The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Sales Development leader. As the Director, Sales Development you will lead the effort to build and scale a world-class outbound sales machine. You will play a critical role in fostering, coaching, and training a highly driven team of individuals to become ace Account Executives. In this role, you will set team goals, motivate, coach, and develop team members while working closely with other leaders across the business including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Talent Acquisition. This role requires a passion for setting and hitting targets while keeping an extreme focus on the development of the team members. Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead the Sales Development program and help fuel Rapid7 pipeline generation efforts, including leading a distributed team of Sales Development Managers and Representatives
  • Ensure that Rapid7 is advancing its next generation of successful salespeople through a commitment to developing people and programs focused on the appropriate skill sets
  • Define critical drivers of success and design playbooks, career paths, and appropriate measurements for the sales development organization
  • Leverage Operations and BI teams to determine team goals
  • Provide thought leadership to the Growth Leaders and Exec Team on innovative best practices for employee development and pipeline acceleration
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Talent Acquisition leadership to define the strategy and growth of the business
  • Lead team to exceed sales development targets
  • Motivate individuals and teams to exceed objectives through face to face coaching, over-communication of results and performance, and innovative incentives
  • Leverage technology tools to provide real-time visibility, analytics, and reporting on performance
  • Collaborate with Marketing on Account-Based Marketing strategy and campaigns, ensuring sales development tactics are in sync with marketing campaign execution
  • Help build a fun, high-energy environment where people love coming to work
Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of management experience with proven track record of hiring, retaining and developing individuals and building teams
  • A strong affinity for coaching and developing talent
  • A knack for building high-performing sales teams that have a true passion for their work and the company
  • Strategic thinking - systematically envisions desired outcomes, determines critical actions to achieve those outcomes, and develops and executes a cross-functional plan – calibrating the plan in the face of rapidly changing conditions
  • Strong communication skills - ability to tailor communication style based on the audience with clarity and authority; effectively delivers presentations and has strong verbal and written skills
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal influence - uses both rational and emotional drivers that encourage and enable direct reports and key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience working in and building inside sales teams
  • History of consistent goal achievement
  • Ability to build and manage KPIs for a sales organization
  • Data-driven – you are driven by numbers and constantly finding ways to improve productivity, efficiency, and contribution to the business.
  • Proficient in CRM systems (i.e.,, NetSuite, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt easily to a rapidly-changing environment
  • Natural leader – you inspire others around you and build a highly motivated and successful team through your management skills
  • Bachelor's degree
