As Director of Business Development, you'll manage your own pipeline throughout the entire sales cycle: from prospecting and lead generation to negotiation and closing deals. Must be an all-star hustler who is comfortable wearing all sorts of hats. This person will work closely with the CEO to do whatever is necessary to grow the company.
What you’ll be doing:
- Developing and closing new business at the right executive levels within our target prospects
- Conducting cold outreach to research universities across the globe
- Delivering demos and enhancing the content and structure of those demos as OpenScholar grows
- Attending applicable area Trade Shows to engage potential clients
- Collaborate with Marketing to increase awareness of OpenScholar
The perfect candidate has:
- Experience at a tech startup, especially as a founder, early employee, or as one of the first salespeople
- A proven sales record selling SaaS or B2B products to universities
- An extraordinary capacity to think on your feet and manage tough questions from prospective clients
- An engaging personality, a healthy sense of humor, and exceptional people skills (e.g., someone we want to get stuck in an airport with)
- An uncanny capacity to break the ice, to quickly isolate what somebody needs (and how you/OpenScholar can meet that need), and to cut to the chase and close
- Excellent negotiating skills; the ability to focus prospects on value, not cost
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years experience working in a sales/business development
- Experience selling to universities
Compensation:
- Outstanding earning potential including salary, uncapped commission structure and equity.
