The Mission

NeighborSchools is on a mission to reinvent child care from the ground up.

Today in America, working-parents with young children spend over $75B a year on child care, but the caregivers, the hard-working women* who actually work hands-on with our children, they get paid peanuts. The problem is that big child care centers are so expensive to run that they have to charge parents a ton, and there's still very little left over for the caregivers. This forces the best caregivers to leave child care in search of better wages, and leaves families struggling to find quality care.

At NeighborSchools, we've developed a new solution that puts people first. We help individual caregivers go independent, get licensed, open up micro-daycares in their homes, and work directly with families in the community. Caregivers that launch daycares on NeighborSchools earn 2-3X more than preschool teachers, even while charging parents less for child care. And children benefit from the small, intimate settings and programs led by experienced professionals. That's the win-win-win.

Our goal is to help a million caregivers launch new, independent daycares in the next 10 years and bring quality, affordable child care to every neighborhood in America.

* over 99% of prospective daycare providers signing up for NeighborSchools are women.

The Role

The first step is to meet and partner with the right caregivers for this opportunity. Every month hundreds of prospective partners come to NeighborSchools and sign-up to read our content, watch our videos, or join a community call.

As an Account Executive at NeighborSchools, your job is to educate prospects on the opportunity of opening a home daycare, and how we help. When it’s a good fit, you’ll sign them up for NeighborSchools.

Every day you’ll speak to 10+ prospective providers, and help them assess whether this is the right opportunity for them given their professional qualifications, personal goals, and living situation.

You’ll work closely with our marketing team to create and share educational content, and with our partner success team to make sure that every new partner has a smooth onboarding onto the NeighborSchools platform.

Qualifications

This is a sales role, but it’s not a traditional sales role. In order for us to help a caregiver go independent, they first need to trust that NeighborSchools is in fact going to help them succeed. Your job is to build that trust, and demonstrate the value that the platform, support, and community provide. If and when you and a prospect both agree it’s a good fit, you’ll send them a partnership agreement and sign them up to join us.

Experience & Skills

  • Enjoy talking to people: you will be on the phone for much of the day, and you’ll get to learn about the background and personal interests of hundreds of professional caregivers. You bring energy to the calls, are naturally inquisitive, and really good at explaining complicated things in a straightforward way.
  • 2-4 years experience in sales: you’ll have a monthly goal, and you’ll be evaluated on it. Working towards a goal should excite you. We have a big mission, and that starts with ambitious goals.
  • Ability to work independently & as a team: with a one-month onboarding, we expect you to own your own calendar, work towards your goals, and ask for help when you need it. We collaborate a lot, but we don’t micromanage; we expect everyone to take initiative and work directly with teammates across the company.
  • Be resourceful & organized: we’re an early-stage startup (
  • English / Spanish bilingual: many of the caregivers we partner with speak Spanish as a their first language.

If you meet some but not all of the qualifications here, and you’re passionate about our mission and this opportunity, we hope you’ll apply anyway.

Culture & Values

NeighborSchools is a mission-driven startup, and we prioritize candidates who demonstrate a passion for our cause. We work hard, we work as a team, and we care deeply about the success of every caregiver and parent who comes to NeighborSchools.

We try to ensure NeighborSchools is an inclusive and diverse place where everyone feels happy, fulfilled, respected, comfortable, and welcome. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We care a lot, so our benefits are actually benefits, not just the fun stuff like swag and team lunches in the office (though we have that too!).
