Sr. Principal (Director), Product Operations

 

CA Technologies provides IT management solutions that help customers manage and secure complex IT environments to support agile business services. Organizations of all sizes leverage CA Technologies software and SaaS solutions to accelerate innovation, transform infrastructure and secure data and identities, from the data center to the cloud.  The Chief Product Officer’s organization specializes in IT management software to manage cloud-based applications, secure software applications, and seamlessly develop and operate any type of software application from mobile to mainframe.

 

The CPO Product Operations team will have two primary objectives:

  1. Deliver a business context-driven management system across CPO – providing line-of-sight between key activities, operational KPIs and financial results
  2. Provide the proactive support and transparency required to enable the CPO organization (and the Business Units that comprise it) to build products that matter and to realize longer-term strategic objectives

 

As a business operations leader in the Chief Product Officer (CPO) organization, you will be responsible for directly supporting a General Manager within our Cybersecurity business.  This position will partner directly with the General Manager and their staff of Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and Product Managers to own and clearly define the the BU’s management system and cadence.  Success in the role will be measured by the performance of the business unit and the ability of the business unit to successfully operationalize its Board-approved strategic plan and achieve business priorities and financial results. 

 

You will work with these senior leaders on a daily basis to:  

  • Provide continuous insight into the operational performance of the business unit’s  modern enterprise software factory
  • Continuously improve and drive visibility into key activities/processes (e.g., New Product Development, Agile Execution, Engineering Excellence, GTM Readiness) within the value stream through objective, data-driven analysis and management support
  • Provide targeted project management and ad hoc business analysis support to the GM and their teams
  • Lead and participate in critical cross-functional initiatives designed to drive growth or increase velocity and efficiency for CA in 2018 and beyond

 

This team is a small, but very dynamic and influential group that will be regularly interfacing with both the Chief Product Officer and the EVP of Global Operations and Information Technology and all of their direct reports.  The work the team will be doing will be far-reaching, while at the same time operationally grounded and focused on tangible, pragmatic results for CA Technologies.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as trusted advisor and the deputy to the General Manager of the Business Unit
  • Track and provide recurring line-of-sight into near-term, medium-term and future BU strategic objectives and priorities
  • Interface with Corporate Strategy, Product Strategy, Marketing and Finance during strategic planning cycle and portfolio management/operating budget reviews
  • Be responsible for articulating how Strategy will be operationalized and executed upon
  • Proactively conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to form unbiased,  market-based, actionable perspectives to improve BU performance

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • General business acumen, including: executive communications and the ability to prioritize
  • Proven ability to lead, not just follow
  • Executive presence + data-driven, unbiased perspectives
  • Structured, organized, pragmatic & proactive; ability to deliver in an ambiguous environment
  • Strong analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative) and knowledge of presentation and spreadsheet software
  • Experience in software and/or strong aptitude and ability to ask the right questions and learn quickly to make fast impact
  • Appreciation for and experience in translating business strategy to near-term, operationally impactful actions and priorities
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including the ability to deliver briefings to senior executives
  • Experience working in complex, highly matrixed organizations
  • Ability to travel, approximately 20% of the time

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT, engineering or business related field
  • MBA from top business school AND/OR advanced technical degree, demonstrable equivalent experience or global equivalent.
  • Experience in, ideally, three or more of the following disciplines: enterprise software/technology, product operations, product management, management consulting, technology consulting.
