As a result, we have a very large, unique data asset. The posting team at athenahealth is dedicated to gaining insight from our data and driving those insights across our company to help us deliver on our mission. Your contributions will directly impact the performance of a $45MM revenue cycle operation.
To succeed, you will need to be a strong analytical problem solver and an excellent communicator. You will be integral to creating strong business cases which influence product implementation at athenahealth. You will need to be a critical thinker and have the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization with your command of the subject matter that you are responsible for.
Position Summary:
The Operations Project Management Associate will be responsible for the delivery and execution of strategic business solutions for the Posting team. Your responsibilities will include performing in-depth business analyses, developing operationalized solutions to enhance quality and improve unit cost, as well as implementing those solutions via project planning and management.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
35% Perform in-depth business analyses

  • Leverage data to generate scenarios & solve problems
    • Extract data from a variety of sources including athenanet, Aegis, and SQL reporting tools
    • Analyze data via Excel and Access databases
    • Summarize findings in a clear and compelling manner
  • Monitor and manage performance in accordance with monthly goals
    • Develop streamlined controls and reporting to effectively measure impacts
  • Analyze variance from established metrics to identify improvement in quality and efficiency

35% Project Planning and management

  • Lead projects that solve complex client facing and operational problems
    • Identify metrics and define success criteria to create transparency and visibility into program success and/or improvement areas
    • Manage tradeoffs/decisions between scope and schedule
    • Lead and influence cross-functional teams to implement specific components of project plan
      • Set clear expectations with all stakeholders
    • Drive execution and the completion of projects to meet business results
  • Assist team in identifying and executing tasks that fill in gaps in project work streams, supporting implementation, and other needs that may arise
  • Report out on results in a clear and compelling manner
  • Develop a “trusted advisor” reputation across athenahealth
    • Provide guidance to other business areas by leveraging operational experience and insight
    • Develop a robust network of key cross-functional stakeholders

30% Provide operationalized solutions to athena stakeholders (both client facing and non-client facing)

  • Leverage analyses to create and propose creative solutions to Product team and customer facing teams
    • Integrate client viewpoint into new processes and solutions
    • Emphasize elegant solutions that favor automation and product enhancement over manual workflows
  • Effectively & dynamically prioritize solutions based upon operational and client impact
    • Use key performance indicators such as quality, and/or unit cost metrics
  • Clearly communicate complex business problems and solutions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Facilitate expansion of team capacity and scope
  • Identify new opportunities for expansion of service(s)


Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience required
  • Proven track record of measurable business results
  • Demonstrated ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for various projects
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Aptitude for reengineering processes, tools and role(s) to improve scalability, efficiency and quality
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • SQL experience (preferred)
  • Mastery of MS Office suite
