Laboratory & Radiology Implementation Manager
Position Summary:

The Hospital Laboratory and Radiology Implementation Manager will support the client and internal teams on athenaOne for Hospitals and Health Systems laboratory and radiology implementation projects; work with internal and external partner organizations on the operational elements (scoping, resourcing, logistics) of LIS (Laboratory Information System) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) or related implementations; serve as the people manager for the laboratory and radiology implementation team; facilitate and execute the hospital configuration process and client End User training efforts, promoting best practices for athenaNet and laboratory and radiology set up and workflows/ worklists; be responsible for supporting client completion of deliverables, and working on multiple client projects at one time, with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

25% [Manage Client Configuration & Workflow Development]
  • Both individually and with assigned project resources, assess client needs and share Best Practice Hospital Laboratory workflows and related documents to the client during the workflow development process.
    • Design, configure, test and document solutions that solve complex problems
    • Collaborate with stakeholders at the client and athena to develop client-customized workflow documents for processes that are in addition to our Best Practice standard documentation
  • Guide customer through the athenaNet system configuration process, ensuring that the customer understands the system architecture as they build out their tablespace.
    • Demonstrate, provide guidance, and train on system configuration options and best practices
    • QA tablespace configuration to ensure completeness and appropriateness of set up for customer
  • Partner with the athena Engagement Manager and other internal athenahealth stakeholders outside of Hospital and Emerging Services to ensure that cross-team tasks are being considered and completed in a timely manner, and that all internal teams have the information required to complete their required work.
  • Serve as the escalation point for Implementation Project Managers and clients for problem resolution, custom solutions, and implementation timeline adherence;

25% [People Management and Driving Subject Matter Expertise]

  • Manage and provide feedback to team members in their professional growth and specifically in the performance of their project management and implementation tasks and actively provide feedback to improve overall team performance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for resourcing related questions and staffing activities for the laboratory and radiology teams taking into consideration client staffing needs and team skills and individual & overall bandwidth
  • Participate and demonstrate competency in product knowledge via athenahealth training (new releases, new processes) sessions, and programs for advanced certification (Specialty Training, etc.)

30% [Technical & External Partnership]

  • Partner with athenahealth technical teams (Data Imports, Custom Reports, EDI) and athena external partners for LIS and/or RIS solution to ensure that all elements (software, hardware, instrument interfaces as well as technical projects) are in synch with the athenaNet implementation project from both a timeline and scope perspective, being driven by the client business needs.
  • Proactively identify areas of process and project improvement, proactively sharing ideas with partners and/or Implementation leaders and be responsible for driving the improvement across the organization and beyond

20% [Client Training & Support]

  • Both individually and with assigned Project Associates, collaboratively plan and execute on client training programs using existing tools and training processes; focusing on both formal training sessions and on-site go live support.
    • This involves: preparation of training scenarios and databases for formal trainings, providing workflow documents to users during training, and executing on client in person training and go live support
  • Serve as the escalation point for Project Managers and clients for laboratory and radiology projects problem resolution, custom solutions, and implementation timeline adherence


Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor Degree (Bachelor of Science degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience, ideally in a health care setting
  • Process improvement experience in either a healthcare or technology organization
  • Experience with Merge LIS and/or another vendor LIS
  • Experience with 7medical or INFINITT RIS and/or another vendor RIS
  • Experience with athena products and services preferred
  • Possess the organizational skills and attention to detail to successfully manage a complex project
  • Ability to interpret, document, adapt and apply business requirements
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal communication and business writing skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional groups and teams to achieve common goals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote
  • Proficiency in additional support tools: WebEx, SharePoint, Salesforce, NetSuite
