MassMutual Strategic Distributors:

We have had great success in recent years distributing our annuity and life-LTC combination products through our financial institution relationships. To further this success we must evolve our strategy to reach more customers where they are, on their terms, with the products they need. For that reason, we are pleased to announce that MassMutual will be forming a dedicated third-party distribution channel, MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD). MMSD will continue to build on the annuity and life-LTC combination strategy and expand the product solution offering to include life and disability insurance.

MMSD’s strategy is to aggressively grow top line sales by expanding existing and establishing new partnerships with financial institutions (wire houses, banks, broker-dealers) and making significant investments in technology, sales, operations, marketing and product development. Our strategy will be driven by dedicated teams across the enterprise where we will prioritize a dynamic, agile, and entrepreneurial culture.

Summary:

The Head of MMSD Delivery and Program Management will be a member of the senior leadership team of MassMutual Strategic Distributors and they will contribute to the development of the overall strategic vision, execution plan, KPIs and goals of the business. This individual will lead a team responsible for onboarding MMSD’s third party distribution partners 

executing on technology solutions supporting the sales of annuities, life and disability insurance and life/LTC hybrid solutions as well as management of the overall MMSD project portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Heads of Annuity/Hybrid & Life/DI Distribution to support execution of the overall distribution strategy
  • Partner with the Key Account Team to establish and cultivate relationships with third-party operational and technology partners to implement technology solutions supporting the growth of MMSD
  • Lead a team of delivery leads responsible for execution of onboarding third party partners, aligned with the MMSD technology architectural roadmap
  • Lead a team of project managers supporting delivery leads and managing all MMSD strategic and BAU initiatives
  • Oversee the MMSD portfolio of initiatives, including governance processes, prioritization, roadmap planning and execution
  • Represent and advocate with Enterprise Technology within governance process
  • Develop and oversee metrics, reporting and dashboards that effectively measures individual and overall project portfolio performance through quantitative and qualitative measures
  • Role model an agile mindset in leading the team and navigating change and uncertainty
  • Establish and oversee effective escalation process to identify early any projects at risk of late delivery or exceeding budget and ensure remediation plan is quickly developed and executed
  • Develop strong internal relationships and network to assist with rapid issue resolution and timely delivery of projects
  • Develop a team culture around ease of doing business with MMSD
  • Liaison with industry groups and solution providers to stay abreast of evolving technologies and share relevant information with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Define and ensure appropriate resource allocation and project prioritization processes internally and externally
  • Develop, communicate, and reinforce a clear criteria for value generation and project justification
  • Collaborate with other internal business project management teams

    The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience developing and implementing technology to support the distribution of insurance or financial products with third party distributors
  • Seasoned individual capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to identify 
  • Proven track record of working through ambiguity demonstrating influencing skills
  • Drives continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility
  • Able to garner support and gain momentum to bring new ideas through to implementation
  • Strong thought leader, strategic thinker and problem solver
  • Proven team leader focused on talent development, creating an inclusive environment, and building a diverse team.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Experience

  • 7+ years of experience with Program Management / Project Management and/or IT Strategy Consulting, with previous experience leading a team of project or program managers or delivery leads
  • Knowledge of DTCC, ACORD, AFFIRM, EBIX, iPipeline, Pershing, Firelight and other emerging technologies
