The Vice President of Shark Product Development will be a Product Owner and thought leader of Vacuum and/or Hard Floor cleaning products responsible for translating a product vision into specifications, processes, and requirements. The individual must have a passion for bringing innovative, successful new products to market; is a strategic thinker who strives to align category goals and objectives with company mission, moving forward vigorously while building consensus.

 

As the leader of the category, with self-directed capabilities, the Vice President will work with all functions within the organization to represent his/her respective product lines with a high level of energy, organization, and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and communicating fact-based definitions for the products, pricing and promotional activities required to achieve the category goals; the right product at the right price at the right time
  • Lead consumer cleaning product roadmap initiatives and vision; define product features based on the market plans and regional competitive and market requirements; define and track key metrics to deliver 5-star rating products and manage consumer satisfaction.
  • The development and ultimate achievement of the financial measurements of the category (gross sales, gross margin, EBITDA)
  • Maintaining an expert-level knowledge base of the category, the competition, and the consumer (e.g., consumer research methodologies, secondary syndicated data, creative marketing skills to develop the brand)
  • Product Development Strategy - Producing a fully integrated product strategy ensuring cradle to grave product life cycle and renewal plans encompassing product positioning, development strategy, and production strategy
  • Management of Product - Leading the NPD process with Engineering, Commercialization, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to ensure commitments are met such as: products are brought to market on time or ahead of schedule, products are brought to market at or below cost targets, products are produced to meet customer demand, products are produced to achieve 5-star consumer satisfaction
  • Lead user experience (human factors, touchpoints, and KPIs) and development through discovery and delivering of highly desirable consumer experiences in a highly AGILE startup-like fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, or product-focused equivalent with at least 10+ years product management and leadership experience in a consumer products company
  • Ability to lead a dynamic, fast paced, deadline-driven team
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and numerous disciplines
  • Demonstrated management skills to lead and energetically motivate direct reports but also members of those functions who contribute to the business unit
  • Demonstrated experience communicating regularly with senior executives with a desire to seek out feedback and alignment
  • Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
  • Creative and strategic thinker with visionary and conceptual thinking capabilities about how the consumer experience should work
  • Strong leadership and persuasive communication skills
