Senior Product Manager, Trust & Safety

The Privacy, Compliance and Security (PCS) platform team at Toast is responsible for designing and building scalable products, services and tools that incorporate privacy, compliance and security requirements and best practices. As a Senior Product Manager for PCS, you will lead and support the creation, design and launch of products, tools and services within R&D as well as on a cross-functional basis across the company to ensure that all applicable privacy, compliance and security requirements (as well as best practices) are built in and effectively operationalized.. This includes both indirectly supporting external features and directly supporting internal partner team needs.

About this roll*:
Your role is to understand our partner teams, all Engineers, Data Scientists and product managers at Toast, capture insights, see opportunities, and help prioritize work for developing and managing the portfolio of products and policies that further our Privacy, Compliance and Security goals and enable us to develop compliant, scalable products and services. You will help ensure all our solutions are executed in a compliant way and will work with Toast’s Privacy, Compliance and Security teams to understand Toast’s existing regulatory requirements (e.g. the GDPR, the CCPA, PCI-DSS) and internal compliance/security standards as well as changes to those requirements and standards. You will partner cross-functionally to put an appropriate compliance framework in place to ensure we're developing and deploying products, infrastructure and policies in a compliant yet scalable manner. This role will also lead the definition, launch, roll-out, and ongoing improvement of these solutions with responsibility for guiding feature development.
You will:
- Convey your vision through bold product roadmaps, working closely with product leaders and engineers, and participate in all levels of team planning.
- Develop a product portfolio with a clear roadmap and hold the team accountable to delivering against that roadmap.
- Review existing processes, identify gaps in the solution set, recommend improvements, and see the changes through.
- Work with Security, Privacy, Data Management, Data Science, Legal, Product, IT, Compliance, and Engineering teams to design and validate solutions to the most important customer problems, as they evolve over time.
Do you have the right ingredients*?
- Prior PM experience working on highly visible initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ship great products.
- Experience developing and launching products and services within the privacy, compliance and security space.
- You have a creative and entrepreneurial spirit, are a self starter and an analytical problem solver.
- You facilitate critical conversations with ease; you have no trouble working with and juggling the (at times) competing priorities of multiple teams operating in different countries.
- You approach problems with multiple solutions in mind, and quickly pivot when needed to better account for newly-discovered data and insight.
- You build and cultivate healthy relationships with partners and keep teammates informed and engaged. You customize your communication style based on your audience and easily switch between verbal and written communication as needed.
- Demonstrated experience taking team strategy into account when making roadmap decisions and effectively communicating those strategic ties to technical team members.
- Proven ability to make a meaningful impact on the product strategy through day-to-day product execution and your contributions to the roadmap.
- Strength in effectively making adjustments to direction or process to maximize impact for the customer and Toast, and owning those outcomes.
- A proven track record of solving amorphous problems, listening to and organizing large amounts of information into a coherent plan forward, and handling difficult prioritizations.
- A plus:
- Proven experience working in the US and international data privacy, user privacy, or data management space, including experience with the CCPA, the GDPR and PIPEDA.
- Knowledge and experience working with and implementing various compliance, security and regulatory frameworks (e.g. PCI, NIST etc).
- International experience or experience supporting global deployments
