Simply Business is more than our name. It's how we approach insurance: Make it clear. Make it simple. Make it affordable. By combining exceptional talent, technology, data, and knowledge, Simply Business is the go-to online insurance brokerage that protects small businesses and the entrepreneurs who work hard to build them.

We want team members who have the drive to challenge boundaries. If you’re smart and passionate about delivering brilliant customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Simply Business Senior Product Manager, you’ll help to drive the vision, strategy, design, and execution of payments products and services. This is an opportunity for the right person to work with stakeholders in the USA and UK, to deliver world class payments solutions across our mobile and online channels.

Payments are at the heart of our customer experience, and we aim to build a simple, delightful and seamless experience for any business — solving pain points from existing products and experiences The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for our global payments integrations, whilst also supporting the finance teams and ensuring they have all they need to keep the business in good financial health.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing and launching multi-faceted initiatives that have dependencies with other programmes
  • Pitching at all stages of the product life cycle
  • Working with the Engineering Lead and engineering team to maintain and expand payments capabilities
  • Liaising with financial and operational stakeholders to develop and execute the proposition and growth plan, delivering on the existing strategy
  • Ensuring delivery meets stakeholder expectations and requirements, communicating and explaining changes, and prioritising requests according to value
  • Working with external payment providers to ensure reliable integrations and clear feedback on issues or concerns
  • Managing validated delivery objectives through the agile development lifecycle, ensuring a constant stream of value and regular feedback opportunities
  • Keeping the end customer in mind as you work with other teams throughout the business to provide payments as a service, ensuring reliable performance and a clear process to add capabilities that support their roadmaps
  • Understanding how these requirements fit into or transform core Simply Business capabilities and working with the Head of Product to put payments initiatives into a wider strategy
  • Working with the Engineering Lead to write user stories and acceptance criteria, breaking down delivery into small, trackable chunks and delivering value as early as possible
  • Ensuring internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date with appropriate regular updates and clear communications when changes are scheduled
  • Reviewing and signing-off changes before deployment and ensuring that all production changes meet our partnership agreements and any predetermined timings

What We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience running product teams
  • Track record of delivering complex initiatives to tight deadlines
  • Proven experience in positively influencing suppliers and stakeholders
  • Experience working with Agile projects at scale
  • Experience in lean methodologies and collaboration techniques
  • Creation and execution of a predictable rhythm of rituals for your domain area

Product Managers are all builders at heart — people who like to bring concepts to life that make the world better for our users (customers or internal staff). To be an excellent Senior Product Manager, you need to be ready to master many skills — most critically, working with people, and attention to detail. So, you need to be a ‘people person’ to love this job, with a desire to get into the details. You need to love solving problems and overcoming the many hurdles that will be thrown in your way. You need to care about creating the best possible experience you can for our customers within the time, resources and scope you have. You need to champion simplicity over complexity, performance over features, and customer value over internal wishes. You need to work in partnership with finance, operations and other parts of the business to create solutions that help us make our people’s lives easier, and help us gain a better view on our customers’ needs. You need to be deeply comfortable with ambiguity.

What's going on with work from home and return to the office?

More and more, people are talking about going back to the workplace and the new normal. At Simply Business, we’re thinking of it as a Better Normal. That means offering our SBers more choice and greater flexibility to work in a way that’s best for their particular job, their teams, and their lives.

We’re shifting to a hybrid working model, so we’ll have employees working virtually and in the office at any given time.

We’re also aware there are times when working together in person is the best way to get things done. We expect our SBers to connect in their hubs (that’s what we call our offices) most likely four times a month. That said, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so we expect all SBers and their teams will find the operating rhythm that works best for them.

If you’re wondering what it might be like for you at Simply Business, our Talent Acquisition is happy to answer any questions. In fact for them, it’s perfectly normal.

Most of our interviews will still take place over Zoom (however, depending on the role, there may be the opportunity/expectation to meet members of the team in-person). If it looks like you could be a good fit for the role, we’ll ask you to interview on Zoom – you’ll need WiFi and a laptop, or a 4G-enabled smartphone. If you don’t have access to either of these, or you need support with your application, get in touch with us at [email protected]. Similarly, please email us with any questions or if you want to pause your application for a bit – we’ll be happy to keep you updated on future opportunities like the one above.
