The role of Sr. Product Manager, Rice is to represent the voice of the customer throughout the product development process to ensure the output from R&D will be products that delight our customers and meet their future needs. The Sr. Product Manager, Rice will make product decisions and align across both commercial and R&D to ensure the products that are being developed will be delivered on time. This person will manage the development and delivery of target product profiles (TPPs) for rice and will work closely with Commercial Marketing, R&D, and Agronomy to achieve success. This person will report directly to the Head of Crop Product Management. The objective is to define and deliver the complete product offerings that will align with the overarching Indigo mission of improved grower profitability, improved environmental profile, and linking consumer demand to food production.

Outcomes: 

  • Drive development to the next level to enable guiding product development activity for the next 12 months and setting the foundation for future products
  • Mange the stagegate process to make decisions on moving items through the pipeline for best product performance against target profiles
  • Improve processes to enable data driven decisions to promote the best product candidates – product positioning with buy-in across the organization
  • Manage the rice product portfolio to build products that will delight our customers 
  • Work closely with Food and Fiber team to understand market needs
  • Assess opportunities and prioritize product development activities to reflect opportunities
  • Set a vision and inspire the team to implement as part of the overall company strategy
  • Effectively communicate across multiple groups, R&D, Commercial Marketing, Legal, Strategy, International
  • Challenge the organization for continual improvement, problem solving, and a solutions oriented approach to our ambitious yet achievable goals
  • Understands and embodies our purpose and core values.

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • B.S./M.S. in scientific discipline (such as: plant science, agronomy, soil science) with >10-years total industry experience
  • >5-years’ experience with rice research, development, agronomy, or product management or product marketing
  • Experience in a product management role, preferred
  • MBA, preferred
  • An exceptional working knowledge of rice germplasm, traits, agronomy and research
  • Proven track record of success and ability to perform in a fast paced, challenging environment
  • Solutions and problem-solving orientation, data driven approach
  • High level of communication skills across wide audiences, management, sales team, customers, all groups in Indigo
  • Positive attitude, unquestionable ethics and desire to be a winner
  • Ability to execute under ambiguous or highly-structured scenarios
  • An ability to lead and energize a group towards an aggressive goal while maintaining good relationships
  • High entrepreneurial drive
  • Passion for Indigo and our core values
  • Ability to travel as needed (50% +) with a home base in Boston, MA or Memphis, TN

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
