We’ve recently raised $10 million in Series B funding and operate more than 200 bike sharing programs in over 35 states, with clients such as General Motors, Princeton University, Equity Residential, and Fort Collins, Colorado. At Zagster, you will help transform the way cities work, and make tangible improvements to the sustainability, health, and quality of life for people everywhere. And because Zagster is a startup with a great culture and benefits, you’ll also have fun.

Product Manager

Zagster is looking to add a Product Manager focused on creation of tools to support our field bike share operations around the country. This individual will own the end-to-end digital experience for field staff, from initial provisioning and deployment of Zagster equipment within a community, to the preparation for launch with customers and new field employees, and the day-to-day process of managing a large and complex bike share operation.

Key Goals:

  • Ensure a first-class experience within our digital applications (mobile & desktop websites) for field staff (mechanics, re-balancers, technicians, warehouse staff, fleet managers)
  • Ensure real-world interactions with the physical bike-sharing infrastructure are well-integrated into the digital experience for the field staff
  • Determine whether the data, alerting, provisioning and routing needs of the field staff are being met by the suite of tools that are provided via the Zagster software engineering group

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Use a framework of vision/planning/execution to appropriately:
  • Create a shared vision of where the bikeshare field staff experience should be within the next 12-24 months
  • Plan for specific goals and deliverables for the next 1-2 quarters
  • Execute on specific in-flight priorities, to ensure that there is constant delivery of the most urgent product features needed to support near-term launches
  • Gather, analyze and evaluate objectives of Zagster’s field organization to drive enhancements to our software tools used at bike share locations, including mobile apps, desktop applications, and data-driven websites
  • Gain a deep understanding of the day-to-day life of operational teams in order to be an advocate on their behalf
  • Create buy-in for the product vision with these key operational constituents
  • Prototype MVP versions of new systems or features in order to test hypotheses
  • Make difficult choices on competing priorities based on evidence and resource availability
  • Capture and document business objectives and requirements via user stories and acceptance criteria that drive Engineering work
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering team on the delivery of critical systems
  • Test and accept product features with internal teams and with field ops at bike share locations

Why this role is unique:

While you will be based at Zagster’s headquarters in Cambridge, you will be a conduit of knowledge to teams that are operating in the field. You will have an opportunity to visit those sites, live in the shoes of the various teams that are on the ground, and see real bike-share operations in person. You will be able to combine the combine digital experience with physical interactions that happen in the real world, and need to convey this back to software engineers that do not have this first-hand experience.

Experience and skills:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a product management role
  • A portfolio of digital tools that you have owned or shepherded into existence
  • A collaborative mindset that allows you to play well with functional users and technical staff
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize requests, communicate with stakeholders, and meet milestones
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment, preferably with a growing start-up
  • Solid technical background with understanding of the software development process; personal hands-on development experience with modern mobile/web technologies a plus
  • Hands-on UI/UX experience, including low-fidelity mockup techniques and tools a plus
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum software development methodologies
  • Be a self-starter, tenacious, and results oriented
  • Ability to travel 25%+ to bike share locations around the country
