We seek a talented Product Developer to join our expanding Robot team in Needham, MA

 

Do you have a passion for finding and fixing problems? Can you manage multiple priorities and connect the dot when complex challenged are presented to you? The testing fleet manager role will relentlessly and successfully drive continuous high product quality and seek to deliver excellent customer experiences across our global business for Shark Robots. You have the mindset that anything is possible and possess the willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

 

You will own the end to end management of our fleet of testing robots for the Robot category and help to connect the dots between consumer, lab, and QA testing to make sure that all products are a 5 star experience ultimately building a consumer experience for our fleet of robots. You will manage our technical in-home testing and will be the voice of the consumer, sharing their concerns and problems with the wider organization.

 

You will work in a close partnership with our Software Release Engineers, Consumer Insights, SQA, Global Hardware and Software Engineering, App Development, Quality, Marketing, NPD Product development and Customer Excellence teams to own the lifecycle of our product testing and enable the teams to identify, triage and resolve consumer facing issues in our robot fleet. Your passion will show in both the product reliability, the consumer experience and creation of tools and metrics that drive our team to deliver the best possible products at mass production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the end to end management of our robot testing fleet including (from large populations of consumer testing units to internal angel testers) with support from the consumer insights manager, product developer, and software release engineer.
  • Owns and facilitate rapid, internal, consumer research studies to help the cross-functional teams make quick decisions during the development cycle of our robotics products.
  • Responsibility for the collection, documentation, and escalation of issues found in rapid consumer testing with the key role of connecting the dots and ensuring high priority issues are identified.
  • Provide key insights to help aid the execution of legacy product improvement by contributing to corrective action definition. Creates risk assessments as product issues arise, and immediately escalates safety issues and serious quality problems to his/her manager.
  • Participate in product return investigations, field issues triage from call center, web reviews, and other input and facilitate in robust Root Cause Analysis and validation testing to close out failures.
  • Demonstrates decision making capability uses logic and insight to solve Quality System problems and create effective solutions.
  • Communicates lessons learned to cross-functional team.
  • Performs legacy product benchmarking and collaborates with NPD to help define product performance metrics and test methods as assigned.
  • Maintains an advanced level knowledge base of the Robotics category and Robot consumers.
  • Regularly (multiple times per week) updates cross-functional team orally and in writing on active initiatives by voicing hypotheses backed by information and stating clearly any conclusions (telling the story vs. reporting the weather).
  • Leads and communicates cross-functionally and is not afraid to ask for help; actively brings together varying points of view to achieve optimal outcomes. Builds strong working relationships within Product Development and across the organization.
  • Pays attention to who the “audience” is, communicating at an appropriate level of detail and actively paying attention to make sure all necessary stakeholders are included.
  • Tracks teardown progress and communicates key learnings and developments to appropriate workflows for action, providing context and explanation to ensure non-technical team members are able to understand consumer impact.
  • Dives into the details and asks the next order questions that expand the cross-functional team’s thinking.
  • Executes tasks based on direction from management; when direction is unclear, asks clarifying questions and proposes paths forward.
  • Manages own workload and alerts his/her manager when capacity issues arise, or conflicting priorities are identified.
  • Finds a way to move the ball forward, every day, making progress rather than excuses.
  • Consistently stands for growth in self. Takes risks, pushes outside comfort zone, and commits to a steady, measurable approach to achievement.
  • Challenges assumptions to find the best possible way of doing something, rather than being satisfied with how things have been done in the past.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to add value; pitches project and gets things done without being told what to do.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in working with product development team on connected devices/IOT products.
  • Excellent communication & report, business correspondence & procedure-writing skills.
  • Must be able to manage your time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excel: proficient with pivot charts and able to write short scripts using VBA
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) – backgrounds in marketing research, program management, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering preferred but not required. 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in Product Development, Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Design Engineering experience, preferably at a consumer goods company
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and DOMO or other big data reporting tools.
  • Coding/software experience or data analytics background also a plus
