Our Opportunity:

Are you a creative, results-oriented designer with a passion for all things digital? Here at Chewy, we’re looking for an Associate Product Designer to craft and refine our internal tools, and help internal stakeholders support our millions of customers. Our tools will continue to be the foundation that supports the Chewy customer experience. They are critical to our day to day operations and require strong design leadership, and deep customer empathy.

As part of our Product Design team in Boston, MA, the ideal candidate will bring a forward-thinking design aesthetic, demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices, and the drive to deliver results as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams of product managers, software developers, and user researchers to create, maintain, and improve our own internal systems and platforms
  • Articulate your design process, inspiration, and decisions to business stakeholders
  • Own and drive internal tool design solutions from ideation through execution
  • Advocate for the customer, collaborating with product managers and software developers to bring to life the best possible customer experience
  • Attend, participate, and advocate for UX in stand-up, grooming, planning, and sprint retrospective meetings
  • Perform design review, and provide guiding feedback to software developers during development process
  • Work with the Design System team to utilize and refine our design system, and contribute to its continuous improvement
  • Know when, and how, to create the right UX artifacts. User journeys, information architecture, wireframes, whiteboard sketches, UI Designs, and clickable prototypes all have a place throughout the product development life cycle.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in an agency or tech/product setting, building digital products/experiences in an agile software development process
  • Stellar portfolio
  • Empathy for our customers and your teammates
  • To be T-shaped, with knowledge and experience across a variety of skill sets, but go very deep on one or two
  • Whiteboarding / sketching skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Sketch, InVision, or other comparable design and prototyping tools
  • A sense of humor
  • Ability to teach something - show us your superpower
  • Position may require travel

Bonus:

  • Knowledge of current front-end technologies from HTML, SCSS, JavaScript (Vue), to X-code, Android Studio, etc., you know what’s possible and realistic on each platform
  • iOS and Android experience
  • Dribbble Account
  • E-commerce experience
  • Experience designing enterprise level administration platforms
  • Animation chops
