You'll operate at the intersection of product vision, customer outcomes, and technical execution, shaping the data foundation that powers Rapid7's Detection & Response portfolio. Specifically, your focus will be to:
- Own the product vision and roadmap for event source coverage and telemetry ingestion across the entire attack surface.
- Engage directly with security teams to understand use cases, pain points, and workflows related to visibility and threat coverage.
- Prioritize customer needs across different environments - on-prem, cloud, hybrid - to ensure scalable and reliable event collection.
- Partner with engineering, UX, data science, and go-to-market teams to deliver intuitive, reliable SaaS features that ingest, map, and visualize telemetry.
- Work closely with detection engineering to align event source coverage with detection logic and content.
- Evaluate, prioritize, and define integration strategies with external data providers, cloud platforms, and security tools (e.g., AWS, Okta, M365, CrowdStrike).
- Champion interoperability and extensibility through standards, APIs, and partner collaboration.
- Serve as an internal and external advocate for how complete telemetry coverage directly impacts risk reduction, threat detection, and operational efficiency.
The skills and qualities you'll bring include:
- You focus on impact, not output, ensuring that every roadmap item directly improves customer visibility, data completeness, or platform scalability.
- You manage multiple data ingestion priorities, balancing high-value integrations, platform performance work, and future scalability, through incremental, iterative progress.
- You create clarity across teams, defining ownership, expectations, and success criteria for every event source integration or enhancement.
- When priorities compete (for example, new log sources vs. ingestion reliability), you make the trade-offs explicit and ensure everyone understands the "why" behind decisions.
- You anticipate challenges before they surface, identifying potential blockers in data ingestion pipelines, evolving compliance needs, or upcoming customer requests.
- Whether writing a product brief, engaging with SEs, or presenting roadmap trade-offs, your communication builds understanding and confidence.
- You collaborate closely with GTM, MDR, and customer success to ensure integrations and telemetry improvements are clearly positioned and supported.
- You navigate the natural tension between customer asks, long-term strategy, and technical debt with transparency and discipline
- Strong understanding of security telemetry across network, endpoint, identity, and cloud domains.
- Experience defining data ingestion pipelines, normalization models, and API-driven integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and third-party security vendors.
