Basis Technology is the leader in text analytics software components used in search, security, and big data applications around the world. We have identified a significant opportunity to bring our deep expertise and market credibility to bear on a new set of business problems. We are assembling a new product team to develop and validate the product opportunity. This position starts as a full time contractor and has the potential to convert to full time employee as we achieve market validation.

The Role
Spearhead the development of a new product line. Reporting to the VP of Product, work directly with potential customers, Basis executives, engineers, and designers to define, validate, and build a new product line through an iterative product development process. Help build a pipeline of new customers through the execution of paid proof-of-concept projects at potential beachhead accounts.

Responsibilities

• Research & Product Strategy
• Become an expert in this emerging space between data unification and business intelligence. Follow industry trends through exploring complementary and competitive products, meeting with partners, attending conferences, and investigating emerging technologies.
• Interview potential customers. Generate, gather, and organize ideas for features and improvements, prioritize feature requests, and maintain a product roadmap
• Test hypotheses with prospective customers to iterate on product design. (whiteboard, wireframe, prototypes, user tests, etc.)
• Manage Roadmap Backlog & Provide Project Execution Oversight
• Investigate and analyze feature/project requests from customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, design solutions for them, help prioritize requests, maintain a forced rank list of features, and drive their implementation through the development team.
• Ensure cross departmental dependencies are identified, prioritized, and executed for successful feature launches.
• Review completed features to ensure they meet customer needs. Perform acceptance testing to validate product/market fit.
• Provide executive level visibility to overall project plan, timeline, budget, progress, and issues.
• Business Development
• Serve as a resource for the global sales team to explore and drive potential POCs among their existing and pipeline customers.
• Hold meetings for global sales team to educate them on this new product and types of customers that might be a fit for POC projects.
• Create, publish, and maintain summaries of product features and benefits that sales team can use as quick reference.
• Present relevant topics at conferences and industry events to generate business development leads

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience working as a product manager on enterprise software products.
• Full PDLC (Product Development Life Cycle) experience required.
• Strong preference for experience in text analytics, data unification, business intelligence or adjacent industry.
• Prior experience with SaaS based products required. Experience with products providing APIs considered favorably.
• BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent work experience (MBA a plus).
• Superior project and budget management skills, illustrated by strong track record of leading virtual teams in complex cross-functional environments.
• Outstanding communication skills, and in particular the ability to convert complex ideas and quantitative data into simple messages.
• Experience analyzing product, customer, market dynamics and opportunities.
• Ability to solicit and synthesize customer and market feedback for actionable recommendations on positioning, messaging, and product development.
