Principal Enterprise Architect, Enterprise API and Integration is a pivotal role in leading the technology transformation efforts focused on defining the architecture, standards and governance for API Development across the enterprise. This role will also define standards, reference implementations and establish governance for various Enterprise API capabilities, AI enablers & integrations (eg MCP), workflow orchestrations etc. This role will bring together the providers and consumers of enterprise API through the development of a comprehensive business focused enterprise catalog of services, interfaces/interactions and drive the life cycle management of enterprise APIs
The Principal Enterprise Architect will:
- Articulate and evangelize Enterprise API logical architecture and patterns including any interim/transition states.
- Lead creation of standard solution architecture patterns for Enterprise API consumers/providers.
- Lead creation and management of an enterprise repository of synchronous and asynchronous interactions/interfaces.
- Lead creation of standards and governance for API Management.
- Define the reference architecture for REST, GraphQL and event-based interactions.
- Define and evangelize API design, development and operationalization standards.
- Define and enforce the process and guidelines Enterprise API lifecycle management.
- Co-create Enterprise API provisioning and consumption security standards with Enterprise Information Security.
- Suggest & lead vendor selection proposals, POC’s, explore innovations fueling continuous innovation & adherence to industry happenings.
- Lead the design, implementation & establishing governance models for workflow orchestrations across our enterprise systems.
- Lead engineering of shared/platform capabilities to enable federated Enterprise API development.
- Works with senior executives to develop and drive enterprise-wide functional strategies, with competency to work across various knowledge and functional areas across the enterprise.
- Define strategy and standards for enterprise wide AI integrations (eg MCP servers) for powering governed, scalable and context-aware AI systems.
- Lead architecture, design and implementation of AI integration frameworks, automations and shared/platform capabilities to enable AI solutions across the enterprise.
- Lead and coach architects and technical staff towards enablement of contemporary engineering and agile practices, architecture best practices, patterns etc
- Drive improvement in the velocity, scale, and sophistication of engineering solutions

Required Qualifications
- 10 or more years of experience in enterprise software engineering leadership roles at leading-edge companies
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a similar field required
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure
- Expertise in API Management/Gateway implementation and governance preferably with Apigee or similar products.
- Expertise in establishing API security standards and guidelines using OAuth/OIDC
- Expertise in REST/GraphQL architecture and event driven architecture
- Expertise in defining standards for monitoring and operations for APIs/Microservices
- Experience in AI based automations/integrations.
- Experience defining standards and governance for API Lifecycle
- Experience with poly-cloud environments, cloud services, and platform software
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and building-trusting relationships with stake holders
- Ability to apply the principles of analytical and critical thinking skills and other professional practices to diagnose or define problems, collect data and solve abstract problems with widespread unit or organizational impact
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative and agile environment
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or higher in an engineering discipline is preferred
- Prior management or team leadership experience
- Experience with MCP integrations.
- Experience with workflow orchestration platforms like Temporal.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Experience working with mission critical systems
- Experience defining technology standards and building frameworks for adoption and governance

Remote/WAH requirements:
- WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

- Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
