SUMMARY

The Platform Architect will define and evolve the architectural foundation of MARA’s sovereign, energy-aware AI platform spanning IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS layers. This role bridges infrastructure engineering, platform design, and product architecture to enable governments, enterprises, and AI innovators to deploy, scale, and govern AI workloads across modular data centers, edge environments, and sovereign clouds.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a highly strategic and hands-on technical leadership role responsible for designing MARA’s modular compute platform from hardware blueprints and orchestration frameworks to AI-native runtime services. The Platform Architect will partner with cross-functional teams from MARA, Exaion (EDF Group), and hardware partners to ensure interoperability, scalability, and energy efficiency across the entire platform stack.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Architect and evolve MARA’s platform architecture across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS layers
  • Design interoperability patterns connecting modular data centers, Kubernetes clusters, and sovereign control planes
  • Establish technical standards for scalability, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, platform, and application teams to ensure seamless workload routing, observability, and automation
  • Champion modularity so each layer operates independently or as part of an integrated ecosystem
  • Define telemetry and self-healing frameworks across compute, storage, and orchestration layers
  • Mentor engineering leads and influence long-term technical direction
  • Drive energy-aware compute strategy and alignment with Exaion’s infrastructure blueprints
  • Model capacity and reliability for production-grade, sovereign AI environments

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Required:

  • 8+ years in infrastructure or platform architecture roles across IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS systems
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, service meshes, observability stacks)
  • Experience with HPC, AI/ML, or edge compute deployments
  • Proven ability to design hybrid or air-gapped architectures at scale
  • Strong background in infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
  • Understanding of distributed systems, GPU/accelerator topologies, and data-center design principles
  • Track record of influencing technical strategy across multiple teams
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Preferred:

  • Experience with modular or sovereign cloud architectures
  • Familiarity with energy-based pricing or efficiency models
  • Experience building PaaS layers for ML inference, model hosting, or FaaS
  • Knowledge of open-source infrastructure tools (K8s, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • Work experience in regulated or mission-critical industries (public sector, energy, industrial, defense)
  • Ability to translate between business, hardware, and software architecture
