About the Job

iZotope is seeking a dynamic and experienced payroll professional to join our team and report directly to the Controller. The Payroll Accountant performs all activities necessary to process the Company’s payroll runs, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports, handling voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management. The position will be solely responsible for all payroll, benefit and related activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain payroll information by administering payroll and related systems; collecting, calculating, and entering payroll and benefits related data.
  • Update payroll and benefits records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Pay employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Balance the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying and applying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies.
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; follow up on work results.
  • Prepare and record various month-end close accounting entries, including payroll and benefits related accounts.
  • Lead the implementation of a new payroll software suite.
  • Other duties as assigned, commensurate with the level and scope of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll system, Namely or similar HRIS, and QuickBooks Enterprise accounting software.
  • Strong grasp of state and federal payroll taxes and related financial reporting.
  • Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to manage workload to meet hard deadlines.

This position is located in our corporate headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
