Your Responsibilities
As an Order Fulfilment Process Manufacturing Engineer (Weld) for JD Des Moines Works located in Des Moines, IA, you will:
  • Investigate, gather, and analyze data for identifying root cause for welding issues in the departments supported
  • Establish routings, pay standards, layouts, weld tooling, weldments costs, and control plans for revisions to current operations and/or running changes for current product
  • Identify and implement safety, ergonomic, quality, cost reduction improvements for welding operations
  • Work on large strategic projects that follow the business growth and needs

What Skills You Need
  • 3 or more years of knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance, and facilities
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting robotic welding applications in a manufacturing environment. (ie: Fanuc systems)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with wage employees, supervisors, managers, and other engineers
  • Self-motivator with the ability to execute a variety of tasks with little supervision
  • General understanding of computer aided design and/or engineering tools (ie: Creo, AutoCAD, VisMockup, WeldPRO, etc.)
  • Ability to work off-shift and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel up to 25% based on business needs

What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience with shop floor manufacturing and incentive pay systems such as Continuous Improvement Pay Plan (CIPP)
  • Experience with the installation and start-up of new automation systems and tooling
  • Work experience in a union environment
  • Knowledge of engineering tools, systems and databases (SAP, MES, etc.)

Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
  • Bachelor's degree or 3 or more years in an Engineering/Technology discipline with an emphasis on welding
