Underwriting Case Specialist
Position Summary
Works closely with the Agency New Business Coordinators, MassMutual?s Producing Agents, Underwriters, Case Managers and New Business Operations staff and clients, to review and facilitate the issue of all submitted life application packages. Complete application review of contractual and regulatory requirements, as well as some underwriting risk selection for cases meeting defined criteria for age, face amount, health history and other risk elements. Complex cases, or those falling outside of these predetermined criteria, will be referred to line underwriters.
Responsibilities:
Makes outbound and receives inbound calls to complete Personal Health Interviews and Supplemental Health Statements for Disability Income and Life Insurance clients going through the underwriting process. Conducts Cognitive Assessments for Long Term Care coverage. Heavy interaction with external clients to obtain the most accurate answers to health, medical, and avocation questions to aide in the completion of the underwriting process. Frequent communication with underwriters. Make suggestions to improve the way we provide customer service. Actively participate in team huddles to ensure we are meeting and exceeding our customer centric metrics with ?customers? being external clients and New Business.
Hours of Operation: Variable schedule Monday ? Friday
Basic Qualifications:
- Demonstrate customer service focus/superior customer service skills
- Customer Care/Customer Healing skills essential
- Results driven with solid listening and probing skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to multi-task
- Flexibility to handle changing priorities
- Change Management skills needed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Work as a team player to contribute to a positive work environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Outlook); Excel and Visual Basic knowledge beneficial
- Ability to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual preferred
- College Degree or 2-3 years previous insurance experience
- Medical background
