The role of Senior Manager of Food Safety will develop and execute written guidance for Indigo Ag food safety programs. The Senior Manager champions and supports the culture of food safety within Indigo Ag. The Senior Manager authors standard food safety practices across the organization and implements compliance to all programs, procedures, applicable regulatory, and customer requirements. Skills such as auditing, process evaluation, gap analyses, hazard assessment, risk management strategies and root cause analysis will be utilized.
Key Outcome:
- Develops Indigo’s Food and Feed Safety programs
- Develops food safety policies and standards, HACCP/Food Safety Plans, and related SOPs to ensure compliance with FSMA and customer food safety standards
- Cross-functional collaboration and alignment with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Operations/Field Operations, Logistics, Trucking, Procurement and external agencies
- Creates and implements systems and practices to comply with all internal food and feed safety policies and procedures in addition to all pertinent FDA, USDA, State, and customer requirements.
- Creates audit content and runs compliance audit programs for suppliers, co-manufacturers, growers, storage, distribution and internal Indigo Ag food and feed safety programs.
- Develops KPI reports and dashboard for steering committee reviews including mitigation activities, findings, and compliance to regulations.
- Supports processes to ensure readiness for regulatory and customer inspections and audits
- Coordinates and provides internal and external training for compliance with food and feed safety requirements
- Supports cross functional food and feed safety crisis management and develops mitigation plans

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Food or Grain Science, Food Microbiology, Food Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Quality/Food Safety role in the global food/consumer product industry
- PCQI/HACCP certified and with experience on FSMA and successful GFSI certifications rollout
- Experience with scaling processes and execution against ambitious goals
- Familiarity with food and feed plant operations and processes, including the use of batch reports
- Familiarity with Codex regulations as they impact N. American food regulations
- Strong understanding of sanitary, storage, and transportation documentation and requirements
- Experience handling a food recall and subsequent Food Safety compliance audits
- Able to travel 40% of the time
- Able to be based in Boston
