Sr. Field Application Specialist (United States)

The Field Application Specialist (FAS) holds a critical role within SOPHiA GENETICS and forms a crucial link between the market and our R&D team to communicate all relevant inputs from the field to continuously grow our solution portfolio. As a Field Application Specialist (FAS), you will train, support and accompany our customers on using our solution optimally. You’ll also be tasked with training our Subject Matter Experts to enable them to properly troubleshoot and support technical issues they face with their customers.
The Field Application Specialist position requires frequent travel between the SOPHiA laboratory in Switzerland and customer sites across the United States. Most of our clients currently lie on the east coast.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical laboratory training to SOPHiA GENETICS customers – manual and automated library preparation.
- Participate to the implementation of liquid handler instrumentations
- With Subject Matter Experts team (Sales Department), follow up issues and complaints to ensure customers satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot existing customers on wet lab technical issues.
- Support existing customers with additional training and technical assistance as needed
- Provide feedback from customers to the R&D and the Clinical Application Product Managers teams
- Assist in writing documentation - e.g. user guides, procedures and technical documents…
- Assist our R&D team in new products development.
Requirements
- Masters Degree in Life Sciences; PhD will be advantageous.
- Hands on experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) – Libraries and sequencers.
- Strong technical background in genetics/genomics, sequencing applications, and good understanding of variant analysis and interpretation workflows.
- Previous experience with Liquid Handler and automation is an asset. Automation experience is a must.
- 2 years of experience in technical support (or as a product specialist) in the clinical diagnostic or biotech field is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to teach complex scientific principles in simple terms.
- Excellent verbal and written english communication.

Start Date: ASAP (or as agreed)
Contract type: Permanent, full-time
Location: East Coast United States (Remote). This role requires 60% travel to client sites. Additionally, part of on-boarding includes visiting our wet lab in Switzerland. Upon accepting any kind of offer, you must be ok with staying in Switzerland for approximately 1-2 full weeks for training purposes.
