A bit about us:  We’re on a mission to change healthcare — how it’s paid for, delivered, experienced. We want to put people center stage, not process or profit. We are guided by a deep belief that every person on Medicare should be treated like we would treat a member of our own family: with loving care and a profound commitment to their health and well-being.

That’s why we’re gathering a whole bunch of smart, big-hearted people to create a new kind of healthcare company — one that combines compassion, health insurance, clinical care, and technology seamlessly.

We want to throw the long ball with people we love for a cause we believe in. Life is short. Join us.

A bit more about this role:

Our Support Engineering team digs into nearly every aspect of technical life at Devoted. As leader of that team, you’ll work alongside them, making sure our computers and software never stand between Devoted staff and getting the job done.

You’ll plan and prioritize work across Devoted’s multiple offices and distributed teams to support new business systems, improve security, and make everyday technology as easy to use as possible. We do our best to automate away the routine issues, so the team encounters new and interesting problems every day. We use modern technology, such as Chromebooks and G Suite, and our applications are cloud-based.

You’ll also develop hiring plans, update our support processes as we grow rapidly, and grow each team member’s technical and customer service skills. This might look like designing a great interview process, allocating time for a certification in G Suite administration, pairing with someone to develop new network configurations, or coaching them through gathering business requirements for a project.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day line management of a small team of Support Engineers, including recruiting, hiring, and mentoring
  • Own our support processes, evaluating and updating them as the team and company grow
  • Be an escalation point for more complex technical issues or organizational judgment calls
  • Provide tech support for problems large and small: troubleshooting systems, managing accounts and users, keeping our member data safe, and deploying new tools.
  • Manage special launches or events, such as large onboarding classesLead vendor/software selection and rollouts of companywide technical changes, such as MDM

Attributes to success:

  • Leading a team and organizing stakeholders is second nature to you.
  • You know how to grow a team with the right people, and how to guide it to surface the right technologies and processes for the company as a whole.
  • You have a hands-on technical background, which might include Linux command line experience, managing software for an office full of users, or basic computer programming.
  • You work well in a busy environment, prioritizing so the right work gets done by the right people, and following complex problems through to the end
  • You’re transparent in your work, especially what’s going well and what’s not.
  • You are a great communicator, out loud and in writing. This might look like clear and concise messages in Slack or a two-page user guide.
  • Talking with all types of people energizes you, whether it’s explaining how technical things work or helping someone discover a new G Suite feature that makes their lives easier.
  • You’re a skilled problem solver. You can figure out why someone’s multi-factor login isn’t working, or decide when an office needs a network upgrade and make it happen.

Desired skills and experience:

  • You’ve lead a technical team, perhaps a corporate technical help desk.
  • You have experience hiring/recruiting, evaluating performance, giving feedback, and helping your team members grow and succeed.
  • You have experience managing vendors, contractors, and budgets across multiple locations.A technical degree (EE, CS, MIS, including associates degrees) with experience in tech support, systems administration, or networking.
  • You have a non-traditional career path that includes substantial experience with the skills above.

If you love running towards complex challenges and transforming them into solutions, if you want to make a potentially huge impact on many lives, and if you are looking for a disruptive startup with an inspiring and talented team, Devoted Health may be the place for you!
