At Wistia we believe that every person in every business will use video to communicate every day, for asynchronous as well as live communication. It will feel as fluid and natural as it does to text or call someone today.
This reality is still a ways off, but we're super excited to help the world get there faster through simple and delightful video-focused products.
We're especially excited about Soapbox, our product that enables anyone to record, edit, and share high-quality videos in minutes.
We launched Soapbox in June of last year and have seen tremendous growth in usage, but we know it's still just a shred of what we want it to become. We're looking for a General Manager to lead our cross-functional team (Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and BD) in making Soapbox a household (businesshold?) name and changing the way businesses think about communicating with video!
Responsibilities:
  • Own Soapbox P&L and deliver on business objectives
  • Oversee development, communication, and execution of a strategy (encompassing both product development and go-to-market plans) that establishes Soapbox as product leader for SMBs in the video presentation market
  • Develop, motivate, and manage a high-performance cross-functional team (~10 FTEs across Product Management, Design, Engineering, Product Marketing, Business Development, Insights)
    • Set clear goals and expectations for the team
    • Establish processes that aid the team in working effectively and efficiently
    • Ensure top-notch cross-team collaboration
    • Resolve disputes
  • Ensure Product & Engineering teams regularly ship product improvements / new products that meet customer needs
  • Work closely with cross-functional, customer-facing teams (e.g., Brand Marketing, Sales, Support) to shape customer behavior, deliver a top-notch, coordinated customer experience, and achieve growth and NPS targets
  • Identify and build strategic business partnerships
  • Communicate business results, challenges, and opportunities across company
  • Identify team resource requirements and work with Senior Leadership team and People Operations to address resourcing needs through hiring / development
  • More about you:the best candidates will demonstrate the following skills:

    • Leadership. More specifically, we're looking for a leader with the ability to build, develop, motivate, and manage a high performance team by setting the vision/strategy and by rolling up his/her sleeves with the team to deliver results
    • Entrepreneurial mindset and spirit--the vision, creativity, adaptability, and perseverance to do whatever it takes to build a new business
    • Strategic thinking and problem solving
    • Clear and effective communication
    • Business acumen
    • Initiative and ownership
    • Passion for the product / market

...and you will have the following experience:

    • Software product launch and commercialization experience: experience bringing a new product to market
    • Team leadership: 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams
    • P&L / revenue ownership: prior experience being responsible for delivering on P&L or revenue targets
    • Track record of delivering results on progressively more challenging responsibilities
