Summary:
As a Fraud Prevention Specialist you will be responsible for monitoring and preventing fraud on the LevelUp platform through individual action and coordination with other internal departments. An effective specialist must be adaptable to constantly evolving fraud vectors using a combination of technical skills and intellectual curiosity. An appreciation of how fraud impacts all relevant stakeholders is necessary to balance effective fraud mitigation with competing stakeholder interests.
Responsibilities
- Monitor existing alerts through a manual review process to create friction for suspect users while limiting friction for legitimate users
- Leverage the alert and review process to iterate on existing alerts and identify emerging patterns of behavior to design new alerts
- Investigate the business impact of fraud vectors to support new or improved initiatives for fraud mitigation projects
- Serve as a frontline point of contact for fraud inquiries from other internal departments to be actioned or escalated
Qualifications & Background
- Are a self starter who can operate both independently or collaboratively depending on the needs of the business
- Are familiar with writing SQL queries or can demonstrate a capability and willingness to learn new skills quickly on the job
- Have strong attention to detail and are both naturally inquisitive and skeptical
- Are adept at applying a conceptual understanding of systems rather than simply a prescribed set of processes
- Thrive within a dynamic environment often with less information than desired under time constraints that require quick and decisive decision making
