Federal Operations Director

As the Federal Operations Director you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by working alongside a global community of passionate people who are leading the way in cutting-edge endpoint security technology. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carbon Black, Inc., Carbon Black Federal is solely focused on supporting our US Government customers and this role is key to helping bring Carbon Black’s technologies to agencies chartered with our Federal business.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead all aspects of the Federal business operations, and actively participate in the development of the subsidiary’s strategic and operating plans and programs. In this role, you’ll support Federal business development, including the establishment and ongoing support of Federal business partnerships, recommend and implement efficient operational processes, ensure compliance with regulatory and NISPOM security requirements, help evaluate Information Technology and security services and solutions, create and maintain policies and procedures, and provide regular briefings to the subsidiary’s Board of Directors and key stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide communication, leadership, and executive guidance to ensure that the Federal subsidiary has the proper mandate, operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures in place to successfully grow the Federal business

  • Assist in developing and implementing the strategic plan that guides the direction of the Federal business including the organization’s role in acquiring and supporting Federal customers

  • Oversee the development and execution of the organization’s operating plans in accordance with the entity’s mandate and the strategic and operating plans of the Carbon Black parent

  • Support the Security Program to ensure compliance with required government regulations for cleared industry

  • Ensure effective communication with the Executive Staff by keeping them informed of key aspects of Federal business operations

  • Ensure that operating objectives and standards of performance are understood by management and employees through alignment with key cross-functional stakeholders in Sales and Sales Operations, Finance, HR, Security, and IT

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong communications skills for a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences, and in particular, be able to clearly explain the complexities of government procurement practices to audiences with limited prior Federal sales experience plus:
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 10 years of business operations, program management, business analyst or technical operations experience

  • In-depth experience doing business with US Federal agencies (both directly and through channel partners), be well-versed in Federal government business practices, Federal contracting and procurement processes, Federal clearance requirements, and government audits

  • Proven project management experience, including developing project plans, schedules and budgets with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, leading through influence, and being accountable for achieving results

  • Experience as a team leader operating in a critical role that greatly impacts team success

  • High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity and experience working in Classified environments and obtaining and maintaining facilities clearance

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates for this role require US Citizenship and will be required to have US Government Security Clearance
