Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Needham, MA

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with the Systems, Network, and Security teams to support existing cloud services running on Azure and AWS, implement new solutions, and migrate existing on-prem applications where appropriate.

A strong systems background is preferred with experience migrating applications from on-prem environments and championing a “cloud-smart” hybrid approach.

Preferred:

· Current certification as an Azure Administrator or AWS Solutions Architect

· Experience in architecting Enterprise grade solutions in on-premises and cloud environments

· Ability to design cloud infrastructure including hybrid cloud, IaaS/PaaS, micro-services, security, IAM, and governance

· Demonstrated success leading large-scale transformations

· Strong negotiating, influencing and problem resolution skills

· Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

· Demonstrated ability to assess business needs, creatively approach solutions, decide, and influence appropriate courses of action

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

· Architects and designs highly available and geographically redundant cloud-based infrastructure for use by our organization

· Plans and implements above designs

· Follows best practices and development life cycle

· Manages cloud environments in accordance with company security and compliance guidelines

· Monitors the cloud environments for optimal performance and high availability

· Oversees the cloud environments usage and cost to maximize efficiency

· Documents all our cloud environments with diagrams, specifications, design, and implementation documents

· Evaluates on-prem applications for cloud-readiness

· Educates teams on the implementation of the new cloud-based systems

· Employs exceptional problem-solving skills, identifies, and resolves problems before they become unmanageable

· Stays current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel

· Works closely with networking, systems, applications, security, and compliance teams

Who You Are:

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technology, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience

· Certification as an Azure Administrator - Associate or AWS Solutions Architect – Associate or higher

· 3-5 years’ experience in a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer or similar position

· Experience with cloud technologies (i.e., Azure, AWS) IaaS, PaaS, SaaS

· Experience working with Infrastructure as code tools

· Experience with managing and monitoring systems

· Experience migrating on-premises applications to the cloud

· Working knowledge of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN’s, load balancing, and firewalls

· Working knowledge of PowerShell, Python, and Bash

· Working knowledge of AD and Azure AD

· Windows and Linux administration experience

· Hyper-V and VMware experience

· Excellent communication skills

· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

· Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

· Experience with Microsoft 365 Administration
