What if nature could be harnessed to help farmers sustainably feed the planet? Since 2014, Indigo has questioned agriculture's full value chain to improve grower profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health. The company’s scientific discoveries and digital innovations have amplified new value from soil to sale, benefiting more than 10,000 growers to date. Indigo is also the company behind The Terraton Initiative, a global effort to drawdown one trillion tons of atmospheric carbon dioxide by unlocking the potential of agricultural soils. In 2019, Indigo was ranked #1 on CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list. Headquartered in Boston, MA, Indigo has additional offices in Memphis, TN; Research Triangle Park, NC; Sydney, Australia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Basel, Switzerland; and São Paulo, Brazil.

The Associate Manager will drive projects to help bring agriculture into the future by digitizing practices. This may include vetting new field technology (e.g. drones, sensors, apps), determining which solutions can have the biggest impact, testing and deploying technology, helping to improve team operations related to precision agriculture or digital operations, looking at business opportunities for technology we build in house, and generally telling the story of FDS’s vision inside and outside of Indigo. A good candidate will need to be able to solve very difficult problems, work cross-functionally to make things happen, build compelling slides to align with the rest of the company, and help manage external relationships.

 Responsibilities:

  • Help move agriculture into the future by creating a digital footprint through new technology, working to build a vision of the future and execute on programs to get us there as fast as possible
  • Be able to drop into an area and drive improvements and innovation
  • Partner with GeoInnovation leadership to deliver team strategy that supports Indigo’s objectives and mission
  • Create visually compelling slides in PowerPoint to drive our strategy and cross-functional actions

Competencies:

  • Mastery in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Outstanding communication skills
    • Responds promptly and clearly via email
    • Can conduct strong phone interviews
    • Excellent presentation delivery, with and without PowerPoint
    •  Seeks first to understand, then to be understood
  • Highly adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of the organization, with a demonstrated ability to deliver under pressure
  • Able to hold and understand several complex ideas simultaneously across cross functional teams, including ability to advance concepts from early-stages to concrete proposals
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an insatiable interest in cutting-edge technologies and creating a more beneficial agricultural system
  • Eager to identify and cement new business relationships
  • Highly organized
    • Doesn’t let anything “fall through the cracks” when scheduling calls and meetings with internal and external stakeholders
    • Uses collaboration tools effectively (email, text, slack, Confluence, etc.) to coordinate work across teams
  • Demonstrates empathy with all stakeholders (E.g., growers, to Innovation Team Leadership, to internal collaborators, companies, and KOLs)
  • Willingness to travel, including internationally, as needed
  • Completes necessary tasks, even menial ones, with joy
  • Understands and embodies Indigo’s purpose and core values

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years work experience
  • Technical or consulting background preferred
  • Undergraduate degree with 3.5+ GPA preferred
  • Ag and food background and/or experience with GIS / Geospatial technology preferred

Indigo is committed to living our values, specifically “creating a work environment where everyone feels respected, connected, and has opportunities to learn and grow.” As part of living our values, we strive to create a diverse and inclusive work environment where everyone feels they can be themselves and has an equal opportunity of succeeding
