Curriculum Associates is seeking an innovative and creative K-8 Associate Director to focus on Spanish-language literacy and biliteracy (English/Spanish) products. The team's goal is to lead the revitalization, expansion, and growth of our Spanish Language Arts digital, core, and supplemental product offerings. The Associate Director will be a critical member of the team responsible for concepting and executing on new print and digital products for Curriculum Associates' Spanish Language Arts portfolio.  

The impact you'll have: 

  • Share joy, passion, and commitment to building great products that inspire and engage our students and teachers 
  • Collaborate with team to define workflows, processes, guidelines, and resource plans that ensure high-quality contentensuring that processes are being followed throughout the lifecycle of a given project 
  • Manage budgets and resource plans 
  • Lead partnership with project management and editorial to develop and maintain schedule and workplan for all aspects of a project 
  • Mentor and develop editorial staff on professional growth, team management, and product development 
  • Identify possible project bottlenecks and offer creative solutions by working collaboratively with all project stakeholders (design, sales, production, marketing, implementation, etc.)  
  • Partner with project leads and editors to ensure that all components are appropriately aligned 
  • Serve as a thought partner with team leadership and editorial leads, developing components for our programs from conceptualization to final production 
  • Review and provide feedback to writers and editors (both internal and external), ensuring quality and appropriateness of content with respect to grade and reading levels, content accuracy, and pedagogical fidelity 
  • Effectively manage vendor/freelancer relationships and grow editorial team in the ability to manage quality and provide appropriate feedback and support  
  • Review, analyze, and translate literacy research into effective solutions to serve students and teachers 
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director to ensure that projects are adequately and appropriately staffed 
  • Review, revise, and edit manuscripts as needed 
  • Train or manage the training of editors, supervise overall performance, and recommend promotions 
  • Maintain high-quality documentation that reflects project specifications and project learnings 

What we're looking for: 

  • Mission-driven candidates who can work at a fast pace, thrive in a dynamic environment, and demonstrate a record of achievement, while maintaining the quality of the product
  • Bachelor's degree. We'd also love to see: a Master's degree in education and teaching experience 
  • 7+ years managing the development of K-8 reading/language arts products-both student- and teacher facing components. 
  • Spanish fluency is required
  • Experience concepting and delivering core and supplemental Reading/Language products into K-8 schools  
  • Proven project management skills, attention to detail, and an ability to drive toward completion 
  • Laser focus on instructional quality throughout the development cycle 
  • Deep understanding of national and state standards and assessments  
  • Fluency with quantitative and qualitative text measures 
  • Ability to proactively and creatively solve problems related to product development 
  • Ability to see the big picture and dig into the details 
  • Proven writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills  

LocationThis position can be based in our headquarters office in North Billerica, MA (a suburb of Boston); in one of our satellite offices in Brooklyn, NY and Chicago, or remote.
