The National Sales Manager – National Engineers, is responsible for leading the nationwide efforts of specific Watts Engineered/Spec Products targeting National Engineers. He / she will work in concert with the Director of Sales - Strategic Accounts, manufacturer’s representatives, and specialized distribution channels in the region. In addition, the NSM is charged with developing sales plans and strategies across the nation to meet short - and long-term goals; including but not limited to specification preference/conversion, BIM library migration, and core product selection. The person in this role is the main point of contact for national engineering firms in their area and must build effective and sustainable business relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Help meet or exceed the collective annual sales targets for the Wholesale Plumbing Channel.
  • Create sales plans/strategies and key account plans for the engineering community/targets.
  • Assist in the management of manufacturer’s representatives, targeting Nat’l PE Firms.
  • Identify and track projects, from design and engineering planning through purchasing, while working closely with and fully communicating with Director of Sales, manufacturer’s representatives, and various industry partners.
  • Engage with Engineers to gain specifications for specific Watts’s products while providing supporting resources/documentation.
  • Presenting to large audiences and/or technical personnel whether in the office or in the field.
  • Educate national engineers on the breadth and depth of the Watts portfolio.
  • Develop and execute, in conjunction with the Director of Sales, promotional sales programs as required to promote the Watts brand. Parallel to NSM Contractors efforts.
  • Communicate company messaging to representatives, engineers, distributors, and contractors.
  • Provide (VOC) to the design team(s) in order to change and/or enhance Watt’s products to service the market trends of the region.
  • Develop communication strategy focused on engineer conversion and greater Watts marketing platform. Communicate new trends, code, and emerging techniques among engineers.  
  • Identify landmark projects and their potential.  Work to specify Watt’s on the project(s) and see the project(s) through to fruition. Highlight the successes and use methodology to implement in other markets.
  • Regular communication with product management to ensure alignment of messaging.
  • Attend tradeshows and industry events as required, facilitate training(s), and engage customer locations – foot in the door attitude.  ASHRAE, ASPE, MCAA, etc.
  • Review/assess spec conversion within region and, in conjunction with the RSM’s, conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with the Director of Sales.
  • Periodic reporting on market activity, opportunities, risks and sales forecasting.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree, (preferably in a technical discipline)

MANAGEMENT:

No direct reports, but manages Top 50 National Engineering Firms, and manufacturer’s representatives throughout the region

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • At least five years of experience in Regional Sales Management / Traveling role
  • Demonstrated ability in Technical Sales / Construction Acumen / Engineering Specification Process
  • Knowledgeable in Div 22 plumbing. Div 10 and 23 also beneficial
  • Presenting to various industry groups / Public speaking / Superior communication skills
  • Travel  +60-70%
