Social Media Specialist
Job Overview
Rapid7 is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Social Media Specialist to amplify our voice as a security leader throughout our social platforms and with the broader security and technology practitioner community. You will identify creative ways to inspire our community of security professionals and drive social engagement. You will facilitate the implementation of a cohesive social media marketing plan, including strategies and tactics that result in measurable impact in terms of engagement, awareness, and ultimately to our overall business. You have a passion for the security community and a commitment to collaboration throughout our company. You will be part of a growing global communications team to align our work with media, analysts, and customer advocacy.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Global Communications, the Social Media Specialist will work with individuals at all levels across the company and in the industry. As Rapid7’s Social Media Specialist, you will engage and support the security community in the following ways:
Strategy & Cross-Function:
- Manage and build engagement on Rapid7’s social platforms – including our own blog, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and more.
- Determine the strategy and vision for our social platforms, recruit and interact with the community, develop creative content ideas, and ensure execution excellence across all channels.
- Implement new ways to engage our community through social media and provide impactful information and content to the general security community, our customers, partners, and followers.
- Ensure alignment with Rapid7 business goals and work closely with core stakeholders across the business to represent the community perspective.
- Partner effectively with our marketing, product marketing, and sales organization to amplify content and resources, along with helping to promote and drive attention to our products and services.
- Monitor performance of our channels through analytics; prepare monthly analytics reports.
Community Monitoring & Engagement:
- Monitor, listen and respond to users on our social platforms.
- Drive conversation with a focus on nurturing relationships to improve our reach and brand recognition.
- Actively monitor community responses on a daily basis, and bring any urgent/critical responses to the attention of the various teams in a timely fashion.
- Monitor platforms for customer service issues and disseminate to appropriate teams when applicable.
- Support the security community through community-oriented initiatives and activities and participation in security community events (e.g., BSides, DEF CON).
Brand Awareness:
- Represent Rapid7’s identity and brand through creative copy and tone of voice.
- Develop fan growth to increase brand awareness across our security community.
- Work with teams to ensure social media is integrated with other marketing efforts.
- Continuously develop new strategies to engage followers and expand community growth; identify and engage topic influencers and brand advocates.
Job Requirements
- 3+ years as social media professional, specifically in the B2B space
- Passionate about technology, social media, and community!
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong networker – a “people person”
- Experienced and skilled with social media and blogging
