Hey, I’m Anand, the Director of Product Marketing here at Appcues. We’re at an exciting time for our company, with big growth plans, impactful product launches, and the need to really start telling our story. As part of the product marketing team, you will play an important role in all of this because let’s be honest, I can’t do it on my own.

We’re fortunate that Appcues has built a strong, trustworthy brand and product over its 8 years of existence—with some amazing customers to show for it, like Segment, Lyft, Amplitude, and Twilio. But we’re ready to take it up a notch and being in a competitive market, means doubling down on all things product marketing — positioning and messaging, competitive intel, enablement, product launches, etc.

I’m hoping you can help me make our product marketing kick-ass, not only at Appcues but across the industry. Let’s do this!

About the role

  • Product marketing is a new-ish function at Appcues so you will work directly with our Director of Product Marketing, Anand, to build out the function and champion it internally.
  • Competitors are a given in the world of software—and although we don’t want to over-index on them, we need to remain informed—so you’ll help create a competitive intel program for us to keep our eyes wide open. đź‘€
  • The success of our Sales and Customer Success teams is our success so you’ll help support them through the creation of collateral and enablement on new products and market insights.
  • You’ll work with the broader Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to identify opportunities and execute marketing campaigns to drive pipeline, adoption, retention, and expansion.
  • Of course, you will work closely with Product to influence the product roadmap, create visibility around customer and market findings, shape launches to communicate the right story, and prioritize new partnerships based on customer feedback and market demand.
  • Lead key product launches with a focus on telling a relevant, connected story externally and creating hype and alignment internally.
  • As a product marketer, you’ll translate paint points, value propositions, and product capabilities into messaging and positioning that resonates and connects with our ideal customer and audience.

About you

  • You have a good grasp of product marketing, with 3-5 years under your belt.
  • You continually work to build strong relationships, visibility, and transparency with key stakeholders from Sales, Product, Marketing, Customer Success, etc.
  • You’re curious, inquisitive, always looking to learn, and not afraid to question how and why.
  • You’re good at taking concepts and translating them into things the audience will understand—for both internal and external audiences.
  • Speaking of translating, you enjoy creating words and writing that impact behavior and bubble up emotion inside of the reader.
  • You pride yourself on being a strategic doer, someone who has the ability to see the bigger picture, connect the dots back to business or customer impact, and act quickly.
  • Timelines may change, business priorities may shift, and new opportunities may become clear. But you’re flexible and have strong project management skills to help juggle, prioritize, and manage the various projects, initiatives, and changes.

Things that may help you stand out (but are not must-have)

  • You’ve used Appcues or a similar product in the past—making it easier to have empathy for our buyers and users.
  • You’ve previously worked in a highly competitive market, which has allowed you to hone and sharpen your positioning and storytelling skills.
  • You’ve had experience in the mobile space and although you may not know the technical nuances behind mobile apps, you get the gist of it.
