The opportunity
Rapid7 has a track record of investing in, contributing to, and building on open source. The company first began investing in the open-source community 12 years ago when Rapid7 acquired Metasploit, the world’s most used penetration testing framework, and more recently created AttackerKB, a community-driven platform where security professionals can exchange information about vulnerabilities to better understand the impact and likelihood of being exploited. Earlier this year, Rapid7 acquired Velociraptor, a digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) framework introduced a few years ago by an information security specialist in digital forensics, network, and memory forensics along with his fellow community contributors. Under Rapid7 stewardship, the goal is to foster community and grow participation in the Velociraptor ecosystem.
Velociraptor allows for hunting across over a hundred thousand hosts to provide actionable data to security analysts in minutes and unprecedented visibility into the state of endpoints. Rapid7 is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced community engagement manager to help grow the Velociraptor community and its open-source project contributions.
