The Opportunity

You will be responsible to design and execute on customer and distributor research solutions and market insights to drive the evolution of MassMutual's product development, engagement to consumers, producers and third parties.  You will also be working with leaders across the enterprise (Marketing, Distribution, Product, Digital Experience and Operations) to develop a research learning agenda and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver on the agenda.  As part of the company's ongoing transformation, senior leaders throughout the company are being asked to deliver against a bold new set of strategic goals.  As you formulate and deliver on the research agenda, you will have the opportunity to mobilize your peer analytics and insights SMEs to contribute toward well-rounded solutions that help inform and enable those strategic goals. This position reports into the Head of Marketing Analytics and Customer Insights, which is part of the MassMutual Brand and Marketing organization.   

 

The Team

This role is part of the Marketing Analytics & Customer Insights group that aims to drive growth, investment optimization and efficiency through the lens of media campaign analytics, consumer & producer insights and marketing technology enablement. 

 

The Impact:

  • Develop the strategic learning agenda for the enterprise to include brand, distribution channels and key consumer insights.  Identify insight needs and collaborate across the lines of business to build consensus and support
  • Own and drive the enterprise-wide customer research efforts including quantitative and qualitative research that cross lines of business and customer groups, leveraging internal resources and/or 3rd party vendors
  • Guide business leaders in thought leadership on consumers, market trends, producers and distribution partners
  • Identify new areas of product opportunities and support new product development and go-to-market strategy
  • Build relationships with cross-functional partners. Collaborate with business and strategy teams to integrate cross-channel research
  • Identify and secure new insight tools, programs and processes necessary to be a strategic partner to the business
  • Analyze and interpret disparate data-sets – proprietary quantitative survey data, behavioral/transactional data, qualitative and secondary sources to tell a holistic story
  • Interpret data, tell a narrative with results and connect to business implications.  Present to decision makers including senior executives.  Democratize insights to the broader employee community and drive better understanding of our customers and distributors.
  • Maximize efficiency in research, building upon what has been done and enhancing data assets
  • Handle all aspects of a project including recommending appropriate methodology (ies) for the objective, designing rigorous questions, interpretation of results and creating narratives that can be presented across different audiences

 

The Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of consumer and market research experience and expert in advanced quant and qual research methodologies
  • Experience working with 3rd-party research vendors
  • Strong consultative skills, build relationships, ask probing questions, to ensure research agenda aligns with strategy across business channels
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PPT
  • Strong project management orientation
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills 
  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • Ability to build relationships across peer teams and stakeholders
  • Self-starter and highly outcome-focused
  • The ability to prioritize and juggle many tasks, often under a deadline, while remaining detail-oriented
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

 

The Ideal Qualifications

  • B2B audience research is strong a plus
  • Expertise in financial services or insurance industry preferred
  • Experience in developing personas and related analytical methodologies such as clustering analysis and regression
