Email Marketing Manager 

The Email Marketing Manager will own the overall CRM strategy, technology and processes for the Hotels B2B Marketing team. This top performer is responsible for a critical marketing and communications channel; they will oversee the CRM requirements-gathering process across all business stakeholders, coordinate with the Product, Creative and Copywriting teams, implement one-off and automated email campaigns, test and innovate constantly, and ultimately drive performance in customer growth and loyalty for the Hotels B2B Marketing team.

This person works closely across Marketing and Product to understand campaign goals, data segmentation and engagement flows. They will lead the execution of top-notch email development in alignment with industry best practices and the TripAdvisor brand, marketing and product initiatives. As technologies and segmentation requirements evolve, the Email Marketing Manager will be the technical expert for all platforms and data infrastructure, leading the effort to streamline processes and platform integrations. 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with all business stakeholders, creative and copywriting teams to take email campaigns from idea through execution
  • Work with marketers, engineers and product team to understand key campaign requirements, such as subscriber audience, program frequency, degree of personalization and overall creative approach
  • Be the technical expert for CRM, understanding all email programs, segments and CRM contact strategies
  • Manage campaign schedules and project timelines
  • Develop dynamic responsive HTML emails and templates
  • Leverage ExactTarget (part of Salesforce Marketing Cloud) tools and scripting language to deliver highly dynamic and personalized content
  • Lead implementation effort for new marketing automation vendor, as required
  • Lead effort to reorganize data infrastructure to effectively support marketing initiatives
  • Stay up to date with latest email best practices, including responsive development and cross-client compatibility 

Technical CRM Responsibilities:

  • Implement one-off email campaigns and dynamic trigger projects
  • Utilize SQL functions to manipulate and localize data points such as date formatting, localization of numerical data fields, etc.
  • Coordinate asset translation and QA in 30 languages, ensuring proper localization and display
  • Use Litmus to test rendering of emails across all email clients
  • Troubleshoot HTML, data and other technical issues
  • Segment email audiences for relevant content using SQL queries
  • Perform A/B tests on email content to better optimize future messaging strategies
  • Work with engineers to identify database issues and work on solutions to optimize data
  • Create process efficiencies to reduce time spent on email production 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years developing HTML emails with strong technical skills and knowledge of CSS
  • Experience using ExactTarget or similar marketing automation tools, such as Marketo, Pardot, Bluecore, or Evergage
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Ability to comprehend and manage complex technical requirements
  • Solid programming and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of cross-browser/email client limitations and code fixes
  • Experience in coding responsive design and mobile optimization techniques
  • Experience/familiarity with Litmus testing tools
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, i.e. JavaScript, Python, Bash, etc. a plus
  • B2B marketing experience a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage multiple workloads
  • Bachelor's degree in business, information technology or similar
