About the Director of Marketing Role 

Verndale is seeking a dynamic and hands-on marketing leader to join our team as we scale. The Director of Marketing will be a natural and creative player-coach, leading the marketing team and working closely with both internal stakeholders and external technology partners to ensure our shared success. Specifically, the right candidate will have demonstrated success in the following areas:

1. Demand Generation 

The proven ability to generate leads that produce qualified pipeline through paid, earned and owned channels, convince and convert prospects, and manage cross-functional efforts between marketing, sales and BDR teams.

  • Partner Marketing 

The proven ability to shape, operationalize, measure and evolve a comprehensive partner marketing program with our technology partners to drive and nurture qualified pipeline, meet and exceed sales targets that dictate partner tier status, activate partner events, and strengthen relationships.

  • Direct B2B Marketing 

The proven ability to effectively target and cultivate qualified B2B prospects with long sales cycles and multiple decision makers and with supporting a value-based sales approach. 

2. Brand Marketing 

The proven ability to design, execute and measure compelling and content-centric brand campaigns that differentiate Verndale in the marketplace as a thought leader across technologies and verticals.

 Roles & Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the right-fit candidate will lead a growing marketing team that manages the following matrix of responsibilities: 

 Partner Marketing 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive partner marketing and communication strategy (marketing both with and to our key technology partners) 
  • Collaborate with Verndale’s Director, Partner & Alliances, Verndale’s account executives by territory, and our technology partners to execute marketing activities that drive demand 
  • Activate partner events to drive awareness and demand 
  • Execute field marketing efforts that support regional sales efforts for our partners

Demand Generation 

  • Develop & execute unique and compelling marketing campaigns that intersect target verticals and technology partners 
  • Account-based Marketing (ABM) campaign planning, execution and measurement 
  • Persona and customer journey development tied to specific sectors, technologies, and job function (marketing vs technology) 
  • Orchestrate the creation of required materials to execute campaign leveraging both internal and external resources 
  • Effectively project and measure campaign performance 

 Content & Creative Development 

  • Develop and executes a content strategy in support of demand generation and thought leadership objectives 
  • Work with subject matter experts across the company to produce high-value content based on technology platform and/or vertical 
  • Collaborate with outside content providers and experts to generate compelling content used in marketing campaigns 
  • Work to produce content across all mediums that optimize engagement including video, webinar, social, white papers, ebooks, etc. 
  • Collaborate with partners on content development efforts, aligning stories and investments
  • Constantly optimize and improve our own digital assets including but not limited to our web site, social channels, event materials, etc. 
  • Produce compelling social media creative content that will drive engagement from prospective clients, partners, and employees  

Marketing Operations 

  • Project, manage and track annual marketing budget 
  • Own all marketing-related technology platforms, including but not limited to marketing automation, email, BDR enablement, customer data, and measurement 
  • Responsible for development and production of all materials, collateral and assets related to marketing campaigns 
  • Working with IT, maintains appropriate connectivity between platforms to ensure Sales and Marketing teams have an efficient workflow and access to necessary data 
  • Responsible for all reporting of metrics & providing monthly/quarterly/annual reports that track overall marketing results over time 
  • Ability to interpret marketing data to extract insights and recommended actions to foster continuous improvement 

 Qualifications & Bona Fides 

Few candidates check every box, but a qualified candidate for the Director role will check most of these: 

  • 5+ years' experience leading marketing teams as member of a B2B marketing team 
  • Experience managing a small team within a matrix organization 
  • Demonstrated ability to roll up the sleeves and be both a leader and a do-er 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Demonstrated expertise in content marketing 
  • Experiences supporting a value-based sales approach 
  • Strong understanding of selling through a long sales cycle with multi-touch attribution being a key element of measured success 
  • Experience working with technology partners in support of joint marketing and sales activities
