Responsibilities:
Become acquainted with the range of “places” data exists across Indigo; priority platforms of Marketplace and Carbon, as well as all current recurring storytelling
- Connect with data science, product, engineering leads to understand the depths and work of Indigo’s technology business
- Develop a framework for prioritizing storytelling opportunities and process for cross-department and functional input/collaboration
Develop an understanding of Indigo’s core customers in order to be able to develop storylines relevant to target audience
- Become clear on Indigo’s external key messages and how data storytelling can support those
- Establish an ongoing cadence and calendar for data storytelling
Understand our broader Marketing goals, objectives and processes and how data-editorial fits within this landscape
- Understand brand and category positioning and messaging to ensure they’re on-track to mine the right types of data to support the brand story and positioning
Pilot a story around Marketplace to support the Commercial efforts to engender trust and engagement
- Connect with regional leads to understand their goals - puts plan together for how data storytelling / content will help them address those goals
Author a data-based storytelling framework that sits at the intersection of best in class models and the Indigo brand. Be in a position to introduce novel data-based stories that distinguish Indigo as the leader of Beneficial Agriculture
Execute on a plan for building a platform for where this content will be distributed and support overall business goals
Competencies:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences across business and consumer
- Highly cross-functional
- Clear, concise, and compelling writer and editor
- Ability to understand the nitty gritty and the broader picture
- Self-starter, curious-minded
- Diplomatic, rigorous and politely ruthless in prioritizing
- Familiar in multimedia forms of editorial beyond written (video, infographics, etc.)
- Basic SQL skills, ability to generate own data pulls
Qualifications:
- 10+ years as a journalist and editor at reputable publications
- Track record of collaboration with scientist and technical experts to tell compelling stories
- Love for science and technology, required
- Connection to food / ag industry and current trends within those industries, strongly preferred
- Experience developing content platforms, strongly preferred
