Job Role and Responsibilities

Why You Matter

VMware Carbon Black is looking for a Content Marketing Specialist. We’re looking for someone with a deep passion for creating content to bolster demand generation needs across the marketing funnel. A strong sense of storytelling and an understanding of writing from a business perspective is a must. You are creative, curious, and organized, which all result in a thirst for growth and learning. You will work with a team of marketers and thought leaders with day-to-day exposure to ideating, writing, editing, and reviewing copy of all kinds. You are no stranger to technology - whether creating content around VMware Carbon Black’s or leveraging new ones internally to project manage and communicate your ideas. We are in a fascinating time when it comes to cybersecurity; join our demand generation team and help us shape the future!

What You’ll Do

  • Create high-quality, relevant, and engaging content to help support demand generation campaigns, themes, and programs across the funnel.

  • Be thoughtful, proactive, and hands-on when it comes to messaging and brainstorming. Would a lengthy whitepaper be more appropriate here - or is a simple infographic our best bet? You’ll grow into the role of a subject matter expert when seeking answers to all things content.

  • Excel at organization and project management, as this role will touch every area of content creation (ideation, writing, reviews, launch).

  • Develop and maintain a content calendar with upcoming pieces and revisit old ones that can either be used in a new light or are in need of a refresh. We want to make our content stretch and last through long-term campaigns.

  • Help shape our voice and tone by ensuring our messaging is on point. Whether in blog posts, ebooks, social mentions, or videos, you maintain the quality and standard of our brand expression in a competitive market.

  • Work with product marketing, customer marketing, threat research, engineering, and the VMware corporate brand team to create copy and messaging that can be applied to our various buyer personas and industries.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing or having a BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Writing, English or relevant field of study

  • 1-2 years experience writing and developing content, preferably in B2B SaaS

  • Ability to multitask and navigate through ambiguity with a high-level of self-motivation and passion

  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders when it comes to understanding needs and relevant topics for content

  • Ability to analyze content engagement across channels to inform future efforts and campaigns

  • Strong writing ability that spans a number of mediums: blogs, tweets, copy for reports/whitepapers, email messages, web copy, and more

  • Ability to craft original content through independent research or interviews with internal thought leaders and threat researchers

  • You can clearly explain why a piece of content needs to be written with a desire to make a difference

  • Integrity, accountability, adaptability, and resourcefulness

  • Work well in a global virtual environment that is fast-paced and constantly changing

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Wordpress, Brightcove/Vidyard, Google Analytics is a plus

  • Fascination with security and its use in business

  • Ability to analyze and present content cross-functionally

  • Project management skills with the ability to organize ideas and manage deadlines

  • Willingness and creativity to try new things; no such thing as failure
