Summary :

We're a mission-driven company looking to make city-living easier and more enjoyable through on-demand shared mobility solutions. AND! We're also looking for a rockstar brand communications manager - someone to take the reins across all corporate, crisis and internal communications and consumer PR, and oversee social and influencer marketing. What you'll do:

Reporting to the Director, Brand and Communications, you'll lead all day-to-day internal and external communications efforts, as well as oversee social media and influencer marketing strategy and execution, in support of building a strong and positive public perception of the Zipcar brand and ensuring consistent information transfer and transparency.

The main areas this role will lead across internal and external communications include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Oversee and manage a cohesive channel strategy and execution across all brand communications channels, including consumer and corporate PR, crisis comms, internal comms and social media and influencer marketing
  • Lead strategic planning across brand communications in partnership with agency partner(s); provide input into annual planning and lead channel-specific quarterly planning
  • Oversee and manage the PR agency partner through proactive earned media planning, ideation and execution processes, and work closely with them to assess and respond to incoming opportunities and/or requests
  • Work with key stakeholders to vet earned media opportunities and respond accordingly
  • Lead development of all communications-related messaging and positioning in partnership with agency partner
  • Support internal communications needs by working with company-wide ERGs and HR to plan, schedule and occasionally moderate company-wide meetings and events, and ensure timely and relevant company-wide information distribution
  • Manage a social media and influencer marketing team lead
  • Partner with Public Policy team on communications needs for Government and Policy partners
  • Drive cross-functional crisis support and response, from tracking crisis situations that may impact our members, employees, brand and/or assets, to leading the team in a cross-departmental response plan
  • Build close, trusted relationships with the Zipcar leadership team, assessing speaking engagements and thought-leadership opportunities, as well as leading media trainings and speaking engagement/event preparation for them
  • Keep a pulse on channel health metrics and KPIs and report out on progress against annual and quarterly channel plans
  • Manage the brand communications budget and invoice submission and tracking

This person should be skilled at managing lots of projects and moving pieces, and be someone who can adapt smoothly and acclimate in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving environment. What else we're looking for:

  • At least 6-8 years of experience in brand communications roles; emphasis on coming up through PR or communications roles, specifically with experience in consumer or external communications, thought-leadership programs, and crisis management
  • Demonstrated ability to think holistically and strategically about brand communications and its role within the customer journey and the role it plays in impacting customers' perceptions and business impact
  • Has experience working in social and influencer marketing, specifically able to guide strategy and integration into overall brand communications program planning
  • Must be a strong and strategic storyteller with clear examples of building positive brand perception
  • Has strong and professional oral and written communication skills; is able to clearly and articulately present ideas and information with clear rationale
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain key media relationships and successfully engage with media contacts
  • Has a high EQ and strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; a team player, positive collaborator, and all-around good human
  • Can demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant KPIs and how to measure success; must have experience with PR-specific reporting tools
  • Is organized and detail-oriented; someone who works well under pressure and can balance multiple projects easily
  • Has experience working closely and directly with leadership/c-suites
  • Must have experience managing an agency, or working on the agency side
  • Must have budget management experience
  • Lifestyle and/or consumer-centric brand experience a plus
  • Prior people management experience a plus
