Manager, Product Strategy
Position Summary:This role drives the go-to-market strategy and market research portion of Product Management. Determines research strategy to answer open-ended questions about market and product fit.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:60% Strategy direction through an understanding of customers and market research and analysis
Provide direction to team in order to gather and synthesize market research to inform strategy direction
Recommend the over-arching prioritized market entry and focus for product lines
Provide input on the de-prioritization of high-level capability gaps vs market expectations of offering
Direct the opinion on the forward-looking view of user needs and product gaps / direction
Understand competition and competitive forces
Understand scope of the market (trends, etc)
Effectively execute on research with customers to understand their satisfaction levels with current products, whether from athena or third parties
Understand changing jobs of customers based on business evolution and market forces
Research (in market talking to customers, market analysis / market reports)
Synthesize large amounts of information into key findings for stakeholders
Understand the outcome and goals (business direction, product direction) currently set and how findings fit in / don’t
Merge existing market trends and data in order to recommend product direction and investments.
Create product market fit assessments / product gap analysis to inform future product investment and direction
40% Work with Product Leaders to inform strategy direction and execution
Communicate findings and recommendations to product leaders to help influence their product strategy decisions
Shape the vision and long-term plan of the products with senior leaders
Recommend on build vs buy vs partner decisions
Keep the product teams up to date with the latest emerging market trends and analysis
Education, Experience, & Skills Required
Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred; Degree (Bachelor’s or Masters) in Computer Science, Business, or Product Design preferred
A minimum of 3 - 5 years of product management or strategy experience
Strong understanding of healthcare / health IT environment a plus
Strong experience with market research and analysis, and the ability to lead research initiatives
Demonstrate success communicating information in a digestible and actionable way
Ability to explain your positioning and influence various people around the company in an effective way
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with senior leaders and customers
