The Senior Contract Specialist is responsible for supporting all sales activities, negotiating terms with customers, and resolving contract disputes in the pursuance of new business for Nuance. The Senior Contract Specialist will manage deals and ensure that the conditions of the contract adhere to company guidelines by utilizing the contract management system (CMS) to ensure compliance with contract terms, organizational controls and approvals prior to final execution of the contract by both Nuance and the Customer. This role is a member of the deal team pursuing both new business and retention of existing business for Nuance Enterprise.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports all commercial related activities including, but not limited to, deal structuring, contract creation, pricing, review and approval for offers, contract management and providing support to field sales for quoting purposes.
  • Ensures deals are structured and processed efficiently and align to company policies.
  • Reviews, interprets and confirms contract terms and conditions; works closely with finance and legal teams to ensure all contracts are accurate.
  • Verifies compliance with internal policies (and external regulations).
  • Responsible for drafting, modifying and finalizing contracts, including new and add-on business.
  • Responsible for the handling of day-to-day queries from groups including, sales, sales development and account management teams using quoting tools and/or CRM system.
  • May support sales enablement group.
  • Resolves problems through research, consulting with internal support teams, to identify the appropriate tools for success.
  • Review and approve deals for company's customers and prospects.
  • Assist with contract negotiations for all contract types for Nuance Enterprise business units in North America .
  • Responsible for following internal guidelines set by Enterprise Legal, Technical Revenue Accounting (TRA), and other cross-functional business units.
  • Ensuring that negotiated pre-approved fallbacks are utilized or proper approval is obtained for non-standard fallback terms. This may include interacting with key stakeholders across Nuance.
  • Assisting in drafting and negotiating varied and complex contracts with end customers and channel partners, including hosted service offerings and related documents (e.g., schedules, orders and information security agreements), software license and professional services agreements, BAAs and NDAs following our standard language, fallbacks and approval processes.
  • Drive contract negotiations to completion to support Sales in the pursuit of new business/expansions and the Customer Success Organization for customer retention (renewals).


Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications -
Minimum BA/BS, Preferred CMS experience

  • 5+ years of work experience in IT sector preferred working with business contracts
  • Strong negotiation skills with customer-facing experience highly preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and work with a substantially high degree of independence, taking initiative and demonstrating decisiveness
  • Well-developed communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team with a flexible, pragmatic approach and sound business acumen
  • Precision and speed to support deal cadence
  • Experience working with SFDC and/or a Contract Management System (CMS) is preferred, but not required.
