Procurement Contracts Consultant
The Opportunity
Currently the MassMutual Procurement team is going through a transformation to become best in class for contract lifecycle management and Source-to-Pay processes.
We are looking for a contracts superstar who will be responsible for managing the full end-to-end contract strategy. This person will formulate commercial deal terms and represent our functional business partners when interfacing with our Legal team and suppliers -- all the way through to the conclusion of the contracting process.

The Impact:
On a day-to-day basis, the Contract Consultant will have the innate ability to orchestrate multiple simultaneous projects which will require excellent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Our highly skilled Contract Consultant is an expert on formulating strong legal positions post business award. Additionally, this seasoned pro will manage a contracts team and foster an environment where the teams works efficiently and independently, manage a high volume of tasks and projects with little guidance, react with appropriate urgency to matters which require a quick turnaround, and thinks creatively and proactively in order to solve problems.
Your day to day would look like but is not limited to:
Operating with significant autonomy and discretion in communicating with Legal, the Business unit Procurement Category Managers, Sourcing and Supplier Relationship Management
Influencing at all levels of leadership, both internally and externally, to deliver results
Serving as the principal subject matter expert in all standard contracts, and almost all external contracts
Negotiating MSA, MHSA, MPA, PSA, Statements of Work, Work Orders, LOI, MOU, Term Sheets, used by the Procurement organization, including legal practice standards and playbook guidelines set by the Legal Department
Developing contract practice standards, operating procedures and systems that enable the broader team of Category Managers to scale and work more efficiently and effectively
Orchestrating the end-to-end process from kickoff to full execution and communicating these results through weekly metrics reporting
Gaining executive stakeholder input on complex projects, framing issues simply and concisely to obtain buy-off to move forward with key decisions/initiatives
Demonstrating project management skills, including adhering to stakeholder timelines, and meeting management skills
Leveraging your extensive knowledge of the basic types of commercial agreement structures and the function and purpose of key legal terms
Assessing risk and concisely explaining complex issues to both legal and non-legal professionals
Being extremely customer-focused, taking the time to understand the needs of the business and legal.
Working in a large, global, highly matrixed organization, and works easily in multi-business unit project settings; able to facilitate teamwork across corporate boundaries
Acting as a change agent to unlock barriers to quickly move contracts to closure while using your strong written and oral communication, strategic, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Managing multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
The Minimum Qualifications
6+ years of relevant contract lifecycle management experience
Contract negotiation experience with primary responsibility being quality of agreements; and negotiating a broad range of standard commercial contracts within Procurement
Ability to lead the negotiation from kick-off meeting to contract signature
Understanding of S2P
The Ideal Qualifications:
8+ years of relevant contract lifecycle management experience
Bachelors degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management or related major
Experience with Contract life cycle tools like: Ariba, iCertis & Oracle etc.
