Privacy Compliance Manager

Summary: This is a non-attorney privacy compliance specialist based in Burlington that will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization’s HIPAA policies and procedures covering the access, use and handling of patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization’s information privacy practices.
•Performs operational compliance assessment, audits, and investigations
• Monitors compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and company privacy policies.
•Works closely with privacy legal, and cross-functional support groups to assure that corrective actions and changes are implemented, with the goal of continuous improvement.
• Prepares reports, related analyses, and makes recommendations to assist management in ensuring compliance and improving internal controls.
•Participates in the development of the compliance annual work plan by completing assigned work and work plan items and conducting at least one quarterly audit related to compliance and/or privacy.
•Assists with compliance risk management activities – such as developing auditing, monitoring, and oversight processes related to identified risks. Prepares for and perform reviews assessing compliance with program related regulations.
•Assists with translating NIST, PCI, ISO and legal requirements to the business.
•Assists in the cataloguing and management of privacy and security-related policies
Number of Years of Work Experience: 5
Required Skills: This position requires strong project management skills. Responsibilities encompass efficiently tracking and investigating privacy matters. This individual needs to have exceptional time management skills and will work collaborative with cross-functional teams. The individual should feel comfortable leading meetings and providing internal privacy training.
Preferred Skills: General knowledge of Healthcare Compliance issues, and government regulations. Project Management skills, attention to detail, team player, self-starter, aptitude for an interest in learning different products.
Education: BA in business, healthcare, or related field.
