Job Description

Payscale is looking for the next member of its dynamic and engaged legal team! The Corporate Attorney role will support privacy and security functions, including negotiating privacy and security terms with customers and vendors, reviewing and updating privacy policies and processes, and working with internal teams to ensure privacy and data protection standards are built into Payscale’s development, marketing and operations groups. We are looking for someone who will be adept at engaging with customers to successfully resolve privacy issues, have a business-forward and problem-solving point of view, and the ability to identify and escalate legal risks.

While experience in privacy and security is desirable, this role will work closely with the General Counsel, and an interest in learning and a continued dedication to improvement will lead to success. Approximately half of the time in the role will be negotiating with customers and vendors, and the other half will be working on strategic initiatives. The right candidate will have the skills to prioritize well, interact productively with other teams, build positive relationships, and think strategically. Flexibility and creativity in solving problems are valued attributes, as we look to build a modern and innovative legal department.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with privacy and security laws and best practices.
  • Able to communicate complicated ideas easily.
  • Professional, with cultural awareness/sensitivity and principled ethical standards.
  • Ability to prioritize competing expectations and raise issues appropriately.
  • Comfortable with learning and implementing new technologies.
  • Able to work well with all levels and departments.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney, J.D. required
