About the Team:
The Sensors Division at STR focuses on technology development for advanced sensor systems, particularly in the areas of airborne/surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing. Within this role, we develop full system prototypes, experimental campaigns, and technology components. Roles within the Sensors Division include RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, tracking/fusion, as well as real-time embedded processor implementation.
The System Autonomy, Analysis, and Modeling (SAAM) Group within the Sensors Division studies and develops novel concepts for the next-generation ground-based, airborne, and space-based RF and EO/IR sensor systems. We perform mission and operational analysis using a combination of low, medium, and high-fidelity modeling, simulation, and analysis tools to inform system and system of systems designs and development. Our main customer focus is on Air Force and DARPA research programs.
The Role:
The SAAM Group is seeking a Lead Radar Systems Analyst to help lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams developing and characterizing the impact of advanced concepts and algorithms on the performance and survivability of operational systems in a variety of scenarios. You will work with scientists and engineers to design solutions to challenging national security problems. In addition to leading efforts, you will support the development of junior systems analysts and work directly with maintaining and developing analysis tools that the SAAM Group uses to perform trade space analysis across its portfolio. You will be responsible for briefing research and study findings to our customers as well as support technical business development efforts.
What you will do:
- Perform system of system trades, modeling, simulation and analysis (MS&A) to assess air, land, and space mission architecture alternatives for delivering desired mission effect, data or capability as it fits within a broader campaign
- Perform analysis of alternatives and synthesize mission elements to lead to a cohesive solution
- Developing expertise in the capabilities of current and future US and threat systems
- Develop new, maintain and extend existing MS&A tools that STR and SAAM utilize to carry out both high-level and detailed physics-based evaluations of system and system of systems performance.
Who you are:
- Active Secret security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government
- BS, MS, or PhD in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 2-7+ years of relevant work experience depending on degree (BS +7 years, MS +5 years, or PhD +2 years)
- Strong interpersonal ability, able to interact effectively with external customers and STR staff
- Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python as well as other higher-level languages
- Expertise in large-scale physics-based simulations
- Expertise in antenna modeling, adaptive signal processing, linear algebra
- Understanding of signal processing for radar, passive RF (time difference of arrival/frequency difference arrival/angle of arrival), link budget, and error analysis
Even Better:
- Active Security Clearance at the Top Secret (TS) level with SCI Eligibility and Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information
- Familiarity with AFSIM, NGTS, or other large-scale simulation tools
- Experience with US Air Force, US Navy, Intelligence Community assets
- Understanding of threat platforms, sensors, and weapon systems
- Experience with mathematical optimization with applications to radar or remote sensing
