Lead the development and execution of Workday strategy, managing complex HRIS projects and ensuring data integrity and security. Act as primary Workday owner and subject matter expert, collaborating with stakeholders for optimal solutions.
We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
Plaid’s People Technology team is part of the broader People organization, driving how we design, scale, and evolve the systems that power our people and culture. We’re focused on building scalable, seamless experiences across our People platforms — streamlining the employee experience to help Plaids succeed and focus on company growth.
In this role, you’ll drive the development and execution of the Workday strategy and roadmap while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver scalable solutions across the employee lifecycle. You will be the primary Workday owner and subject matter expert responsible for oversight, configuration, and continuous improvement of Workday. This role requires deep functional and technical expertise in Workday among other People tools and a strong understanding of People processes, and proven leadership in managing complex HRIS projects and ensuring data integrity and security across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategic direction, optimization, and governance of Plaid’s Workday platform, ensuring alignment with organizational and People team priorities
- Define and execute the Workday roadmap, driving continuous improvement in system efficiency, data integrity, and overall user experience
- Serve as the primary Workday architect and subject matter expert, overseeing complex configurations, integrations, business processes, and security frameworks
- Lead end-to-end HRIS initiatives—including new implementations, enhancements, and integrations—in partnership with cross-functional teams and external vendors
- Ensure Workday security, compliance, and audit readiness (e.g., SOX, SOC) through strong access controls, documentation, and change management practices
- Advance data-driven decision-making by developing and maintaining sophisticated reports, dashboards, and analytics to support business and People insights
- Act as a trusted advisor and mentor within the People Technology function, guiding stakeholders on HRIS best practices and Workday capabilities
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive experience in HRIS or people technology experience or a similar role
- 6+ years of hands-on Workday configuration, implementation, and support experience across multiple modules (e.g., HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, etc.)
- Deep understanding of end-to-end HR business processes (hire-to-retire) across various functional areas
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with a strong customer service orientation
- Experience with other People technologies and integration tools (e.g., iPaaS, Lever, Ashby, Greenhouse), preferred
- Knowledge of data privacy and security requirements in a HRIS context, preferred
