About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

A co-op opportunity at Toast is committed to enriching your academic experience, career portfolio and prepare you to conduct business within and across business teams, while gaining standard business acumen. This opportunity will support key project and initiatives in the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement and Accounts Payable team.  The co-op will assist assist in data analytic initiatives across Toast’s supply base, purchasing, vendor risk management, contract management, procure to pay and/or invoice process, including but not limited to:   A co-op opportunity at Toast is committed to enriching your academic experience, career portfolio and prepare you to conduct business within and across business teams while gaining standard business acumen. This opportunity will support key project and initiatives in the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement and Accounts Payable team.  The co-op will assist assist in data analytic initiatives across Toast’s supply base, purchasing, vendor risk management, contract management, procure to pay and/or invoice process, including but not limited to:  

  • Organize information and data to support goals and objectives for the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement and Accounts Payable team
  • Extract and analyze key contract information for supply base
  • Support efforts to collect missing contracts (against spend)
  • Assist with creating training material on procure to pay process
  • Assist with publishing and designing content on purchase process 
  • Assist with documentation gathering
  • Provide analysis of supplier data at the spend level by business, GL, spend categories
  • Provide analysis of supplier master data (to implement an offboarding strategy for inactive suppliers)
  • Assist AP in validating Supply base banking information
  • Update and analyze processes and procedures within the procure to pay process and actively suggest improvements or identified gaps

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • Exposure or interest in Project management fundamentals
  • Interest in learning:
    • the procure-to-pay cycle for indirect spend
    • the strategic sourcing processes
    • business and contract law
    • key elements of a procurement function that have a direct impact to the accounting and reconciliation process
    • business strategy and budget process
    • supplier / third party management and oversight
    • supplier relationship and negotiation strategies
    • the vendor risk management process
  • Strong service attitude
  • A self-starter who can think strategically and has a desire to learn
  • Highly motivated and proactive individual 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail and consistent follow through 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task 
  • High level of comfort working within large sets of data
  • Strong problem solving and analyzing techniques
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and database skills 
  • Experience in Google Suite 

Special Sauce* (Nonessential Skills/Nice to Haves)

  • Previous project management experience
  • Previous data analytics experience
  • Interest in pursuing a career in any of the following areas: Supplier Risk Management, Financial Operations, Accounting, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management or Contract business law, Security, IT Operations
