Job Summary
Nuance’s GlobalR&D CoreTech teams develop software components including automatic speech recognition (ASR), voice biometrics, and other technologies. These are used for a variety of Nuance products including cloud-based ASR for transaction, transcription, IVR, and security solutions. Middleware is developed to both simplify usage of the complex technology on behalf of product engineering, and to allow research engineers to develop, test, and deploy algorithms to using the software components that satisfy the product requirements. The middleware is developed in C++ supporting multiple operating platforms such as Intel/Windows, Intel/Linux, ARM/Android. Python is used heavily for testing, and development processes.
Development activities will involve working with the speech recognition software stack, and software components used for speaker identification and fraud detection.
The task of this internship is to participate in the ongoing development of this middleware, contributing to refactoring, testing, code cleanup, automation, and documentation.
Position Summary:
- Under guidance of a senior engineer, contribute to testing and maintenance of C++ software used in the speech recognition middleware
- Working in Burlington MA office, with local and remote team members
Responsibilities:
• C++ & OOD software refactoring, cleanup
• Participate in code review processes
• Develop and maintain software regression tests
• Contribute to development of automated software documentation
Qualifications
Education: BS or MS in progress
Number of Years of Work Experience: 0
Required Skills:
• Experience programming C++
• Knowledge of object-oriented design (OOD)
• Familiarity using Microsoft Developer Studio
• Experience with Python
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with gitlab and Perforce source control systems
• Familiarity with Lua a plus
• Familiarity with usage of Linux/Unix a plus
• Familiarity with Android/ARM development
