EverQuote is seeking Software Engineering Interns to work in our Cambridge, MA office. If you love to code, want to work with big data, and are excited to build and ship production code, then we’re looking for you!

Our Software Engineering Interns are assigned to one of our engineering teams for the duration of their internship.

Interns who love to code algorithms, excel in math and statistics, and want to work with large quantitative data sets in order to draw conclusions will work with our data or traffic engineering teams. They will build feeds to ingest data from our traffic partners, internal systems, and our analysts. They will work with our quantitative analysts to design and implement bidding systems using machine learning algorithms and campaign management systems. They will create automated systems to help our analysts identify new ways of looking at data.

Interns who are excited to build consumer facing systems and web applications will join our product engineering group, helping to evolve and improve the insurance buying experience for tens of millions of consumers. Interns on our product engineering team will design and implement new features for a mix of web-based applications, sites, and services. They will participate in the development of and reporting on A/B tests to improve website performance, helping to drive strategic initiatives and thinking about how to evolve the online marketing opportunities available to us.

Our Software Engineering Internship Program is a 10-12 week program designed for college upperclassmen (rising senior and juniors) or recent graduates. Our program is focused on sourcing and developing talent for careers in software engineering. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about technology and offer diverse perspectives.

Applicants to the program must possess the following qualifications:

  • Be a student currently enrolled in a degree program majoring in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information science or related technical major OR a recent graduate of an intensive coding bootcamp.
  • Experience working in Java, Python, Go, or another related programming language
  • Embrace EverQuote’s core values of bootstrapping, tenacity, data-centricity, impact, and heart
  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Bring a diversity of background, perspective, experience, or culture to our internship program

We get it. Requirements can sometimes hold people back from applying to a job, but don’t let that be the case here. If you believe you have the skills it takes to elevate this role, team, and company, we encourage you to apply for this role.

An Insider's view of EverQuote

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

The reality is career success means little without a healthy balance of life outside of work. At EQ, it has meant reminding each other that whatever we can get done in a day is good enough. Some may be able to do more based on their situation and some won’t. The key is creating safe spaces to be honest, and open to give and receive support.

Alexander Grant

Quality Manager

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

I shoot a slack to someone or set up a meeting if it's a more complex problem I'm trying to solve. Typically, everyone is eager to help and put their heads together to solve the problem at hand!

Clara Hunnewell

Manager, SEM and Analytics

How does the company support your career growth?

At EverQuote, I've been able to grow from "intern" to "director of engineering" with lots of mentorship. Leadership sets clear expectations, provides actionable feedback, and creates real opportunities. EverQuote has sponsored formal management training for me, and I have a personal development plan that aligns with my goals beyond my tenure at EQ.

Ian Naval

Director, Ad Engineering

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The vibe is very upbeat and collaborative. Everyone is truly willing and happy to help each other out, support is just a desk away! Outbursts of laughter are the norm throughout the day which lends to a positive feel, but there are also quiet spaces to escape to when needed. I am very much looking forward to days back in the office down the road.
